About a year ago I think I recall reading that some cars would not let you disable the Adaptive Speed Control. Just like our MDS and the speed limiter. That would be a disaster.

Is it possible Chrysler will install another granny control, and prevent us from entirely disabling the Adaptive Speed Control?

ResumeSpeed, when will the 2007's go on sale? Will they also start selling very early like previous models did - say May 2006? Are these changes considered a "Mid Model Update" aka "Face-Lift"? Thanks.

The model year release is back to "normal", with LX production starting on Monday July 24th. Vehicles should start arriving in showrooms in mid to late August and be "officially" debuted on September 1st. I wouldn't consider the changes a "facelift" (unless there are some minor cosmetic changes I am not aware of) but rather the normal year-to-year "tweaks".

Geesh, now I kinda wish I would have waited for a '07. When I was ordering mine, I was asking my "five-car" dealer about heated rear seats. Guess we'll wait to see if these upgrades can be integrated into previous year models.

Yep, my last car was an '01 Lexus LS430 and it had the laser adaptive cruise control. I believe Lexus switched to a radar based system like Benz in '04. I believe Benz has had their adaptive system available on the S-class since '99, so it's been out there for quite some time. IMO, it's not a very useful option unless you're on a long road trip. With it engaged, it is very easy to become complacent and stop paying attention to what's going on in front of you which could lead to more accidents, so I hardly ever used it.

My Lexus also had the a/c front seats, a very nice option on hot days as you would never have to worry about a sweaty back or butt. It would be nice if DCX would make this an available option too. Also, enlarging the nav screen and moving it to the top of the center console may also cause less accidents, as well as making the nav voice activated. It seems Lexus has been at the head of the pack for years and it's time for the other automakers to start following their lead, especially since the cost has been reduced significantly over the years for these options.

I've often felt the same way in the past when I've heard about new features being added to a car the following year. But then I got to thinking that most car comanies do upgrades to their cars almost every year, so just be happy with what I have for now. If I had gotten an '07 "C", I might have felt that I should have waited for an '08 after they released the specs for that car and so on. The list of available "upgrades" for the '07 really don't sound all that impressive to me. I would have been more upset if it included a facelift that really improved the looks of the car (don't know how that's really possible unless they started tinkering with the rear end) or added significantly more power to the car. Enjoy the sweet car that you're driving today. It's still the coolest looking affordable car on the road.

The adaptive cruise in the 300 will use an infrared sensor mounted behind the grill which of course allready has the warning that aftermarket grills may interfere with its use. I will know more tomorrow when I get to finish reading up on it, adaptive cruise and integrated remote start are the topics for this months Mastertech. The remote start will first appear in the 2006 Durango.
