Fuel consumption

Hi everyone!

I bougth my 300C a month and a hlf ago and I LOVE it!! Just wanted to know your average feul consumption cause mine seems unreasonable. Obviously I wasn't expecting to make 30 mpg but it seems exagerated for now. Maybe because it's new, but I would just like to know if I need a tune up to the delaer.

Thanks for your helop and enjoy your ride!

Welcome fatmike. When I had my 5.7 I never got that great of gas mileage. Probably because I always had my foot into it. My MDS probably never had a chance to kick in. I do remember one trip when I was being followed by a state trooper for quite a distance. I set my cruise at 70 mph and she seemed to get around 25 mpg. Not bad for a brick.

Now my 6.1 and my SRT10 v10………..forget about it.

I would have loved buying a SRT8 but I live in a northern place (Quebec/Canada) with 6 months of winter and snow, so would have been undriveable for half the year...

But you have 2 great rides. Good for you!!!

If I ONLY drive to work and back (about 4 miles each way through mostly residential area) I get around 15.5 mpg. Lots of stop signs, no steady cruising. In mixed driving I'm usually around 18. Couple times I've taken a 250 mile round trip to visit a buddy and gotten 22.5 both times. This was on a 2 lane twisty highway though, not the interstate - - and there were several 100+ MPH passes involved too, so I'm not at all unhappy. I have no doubt that on the interstate at a steady, reasonable speed (75 or so, not 100!) that my 300C would in fact get 25 mpg like the sticker says.

My car is stock except for the Superchips Flashpaq. Others have reported mileage increases but I have not noticed that. Hasn't gotten worse either though, just a LOT more fun to drive!

Yep, highway MPG is pretty much spot on, but the city MPG is "mixed" at best. I could NEVER even begin to get 17mpg in city driving, and my average right now is bobbling around 10.8-11.8 or so, it's hilly here and plenty of traffic though, plus I usually drive around with 3 other people and such.

With just one other person in the car, and on a good day, I've averaged 14 over the whole day before.

Are you calculating the mpg yourself? If you are using the EVIC, keep in mind that even with the car off but ignition on, the computer keeps calculating the MPH. This factors in x-minutes of ZERO mpg, depending how long you're lollygagging in the car (listening to the end of a song or whatnot).

My gas mileage started off pretty lousy, but gained ground after a few tanks of gas. I’m running 89 octane and with the first four tanks of gas, I was exclusively city driving (short 1-3 mile highway shots). Last 3 tanks were 50-50% mix highway/street driving.

I got a heavy left foot.

Tank 1 - 12.4 mpg
Tank 2 – 13.87 mpg
Tank 3 – 13.23 mpg
Tank 4 – 13.96 mpg (at 1007 miles)
Tank 5 – 12.0 mpg
Tank 6 – 15.37 mpg
Tank 7 – 15.77 mpg
Tank 8 – 16.19 mpg (at 1,813 miles)

As the Beatles sung, “It’s getting better all the time….”
