DC is keeping this very hush but it is in development and it is a Hardtop convertible, any news would be great, please throw me a bone i want to trade my 05 C in but i rather wait for the hardtop depending on when its coming out.

Wow. I hope you guys can dig up some info on this. I know that ASC has made the soft top vert., as a concept for DCX.

A hard top vert. for the 300 would set it apart from any other American 4 door custom rag top or OEM. It would have to be a Bi-fold or Tri-fold hard top to be able to retract and fit in the short trunk we have.

I hope someone else can answer this! I have no idea. IMO, I would be surpised to see them build it - mainly because it does not have a market or any competition. The mid model update aka facelift is due for the 2008 model year.

This is news that was spoken at the last detroit auto show but the timing hopefully is wrong.

Chrysler to build four-door 300C convertible in 2008-2009?

Chrysler could become the first automaker to bring a four-door hardtop-convertible to market, according to the latest issue of Motor Trend. Chrysler is expected to unveil two new vehicles in 2009 for the 2010 model year. They include an new 300C and a new Dodge Charger, both built on an updated version of the LX platform. A four-door convertible with a folding hardtop roof is expected to be a part of the new 300C lineup. Magna Steyr will build the car, according to Motor Trend. The magazine also said the 300C will get an updated roofline and grille, but did not specify what would change. Recently, Automotive News said Chrysler would not build a 300C convertible due to budget constraints. In December, we brought you spy shots of the 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible, which also has a hardtop. It, however, has just two doors.
The reason why this might have validity is Magna Steyr has an account with DC with over 200 comp 300 series cars thats alot of comp cars and Magna Steyr has experience with making hardtop convertibles accessible (look at the G6 hardtop and the Volvo C series they know what they are doing

I'd think it would be a lot more practical to make a convertible out of the two-door Challenger concept.

I have not heard any reliable info on a 300C vert, only rumors so far. Seems that if it is going to happen it would be the 2009 model year at the earliest, but more likely I would think for the next generation LY series (2010?).
