What is the general fav RWD or AWD...

The AWD sits higher, but handles like da **** in snow, and you don't have to worry about the rear end sliding or anything like that (trying to regain control while HAL does it too).

OTOH it consumes more gas, has more moving parts, and sits higher. Hrmm.

Congradulations on your upcoming purchase

Haven't driven it in the winter yet...only had it for about 3 months. So far I couldn't be happier. It has far exceeded my expectations! It appears that there is about a 5% power drain due to the extra drive train components and weight compared to the 2WD. If you do go with the AWD expect mods to be a challenge as most mods are for the 2WD. I am expecting to reap the benefits of the AWD once the snow flies. The fact that there are many back roads in my town that have grades of 10% or greater and we have a lot of snow in the winter makes the AWD a clear choice for me. I think the fact that you are buying one or the other guarantees that you will be happy no matter what. Good Luck.

I had the same choices for myself living in Chicago and I went with RWD. Basically cheaper and the AWD wasn't readily available for what I wanted. I like the fact it doesn't sit 2" higher, no extra trunk badge and wasn't crazy about the rims.

So...driving in the winter snow/ice here really was no problem. I was pleasantly suprised. No spin outs whatsoever. Been driving RWD in snow for many years so I guess I'm used to it. The key of course is to start off slowly and watch out for everyone else. The car weighs so much, I think that helps. Others have not had pleasant expieriences and some have but that's mine.

Choices:

AWD: Sits 2" higher, is heavier (less MPG) and almost $2000 more.

RWD: Lighter (better MPG), quicker, no AWD but cheaper.

My .02

Oh baby go for the Hemi V-8 in the C. It is a blast. But if you really do not care about the power and speed and you just want the look of a 300, the 3.5 Six would be OK.

I got the 2005 300C loaded including AWD and I would not have bought the car without this AWD option. You will really notice the difference pulling away from traffic lights and just generally accelerating on icy roads. The only problem so far is not being able to purchase cheap black steel wheels on which to mount some very good ice tires. Using the aluminum wheels in winter worries me. Steel wheels can be sacrificial. The aluminum ones are expensive! Oh, sitting a little higher doesn't hurt either. I swim in a sea of SUVs, PUTs and SLUTs so any chance to get better vision is welcome
