18 month old, stock 300C's value only dropped 3%

...according to my state's ad valorem tax.

I don't know if other states have ad valorem tax.....in Georgia, this is the lion's share of your tag's cost.

The first year this tax was $367. This year it is $357. Only a 2.8% drop. Milleage rate is the same. This does not mirror real world values.

I also have an '05 PT Cruiser GT that I bought around the same time as the 300C. First year tax: $256. This year $189. A 26.2% drop.

For you guys that have purchased more than one tag, what is your experience?

Complete satisfaction: 18" O.E.M. wheels
Minor bug : paying M.R.S.P.

Being from Florida, I must say... yes, FL tags are CHEAP compared to other places...

Here up in Indy, my tags are like $400 for the first year.... and will probably drop a little bit next year but still well above $300 for at least the next 3

I'm sure there is a wide variety of fees depending on each state.

Today is the 2nd birthday of my 300c! (24 months/18,475 miles)

Here is the breakdown of the vehicle registration fees I just paid to Sacramento:
Registration Fee: $40.00
License Fee: $229.00 ("may be an income tax deduction")
Weight Fee: $ 0.00
Special Plate Fee: $40.00 (to Yosemite Natl. Park Fund)
Owner Responsibility Fee: () $ 0.00
Smog Abatement Fee: $12.00

TOTAL: $331.00 (Realistically, if I didn't have the YNP License Plate, it would be $291.00)
This probably looks reasonable to others but we also have lots of taxes attached to our fuels and highways.

Yes Florida tags are cheap as chips compared to many other places. DarkFury I’m trying to remember how Indiana figures their license tax. Isn’t it based on the age and value of the car? It’s been many years since I left, but I remember having to pay quite a chunk on my 1979 T-Bird and when I moved to Florida being so surprised at how cheap it was.

But it looks like AZ is taking the prize for the most expensive…..wow $600!

Yeah.. it's something like that. As the vehicle gets older, the price of the tag comes down... however it takes like 8 years to get down to the "under $100" range.

Also, vehicle weight has something to do with it too... (I guess because a heavier vehicle does more damage to the roads or something.)

$52.80 to renew my 300C for a year in Idaho; all my other cars (older) are $28.50 a year.

The system like Georgia, Cali, and other states have is such a crock; Does a car that is worth more cause more wear and tear on the road?

Here in mass the tags are $33.00 but we have an excise tax which goes but value of car. My 300c SRT 8 is going to be $1140.25 for this year. doesn't that suck. there's nothing like getting f***** and not even kissed.
