steering issue

Whenever I’m on a straight road I have to keep the wheel tilted slightly to the left. Is the car sensitive to the curvature or crown of the road or is this that infamous "pull to the Right" thing?
Thanks.

2006 300c purchased May of 2005.

I have the same thing on my 300srt8. It is not very noticeable, but is slightly to the left.

Yep I know what you mean - it's sensitive! I thought my car had right pull but one day on the way home from vegas I let my hands off the wheel on a "mostly flat street" as always, and instead of drifting to the right it drifted to the left! o_O

Silly car! It's DAMN annoying though how often you have to correct that sometimes even when you have it a tiny bit to the left! GRR!

Midnight Blue, they best way to tell is to get on a flat area and where you can work up a little speed and see if it pulls to the right or not. Also get on a road where you are crown to the left and see if it goes left which would indicate crown senstive. These cars are crown sensitive. If you have the right pull there is a fix. Do a search and you will find all you need to know. Your dealer will also know about this. Curious you bought your car over a year ago and are only thinking about this now? Six posts in a year?

VERY crown sensative IMO. Mine has to have a pretty severe tilt of the wheel (to the point that it looks like I'm turning!) to keep it straight... but it's both sides of the road. I figured it was the crappy contis.

During the 4,000 Kilometres (2,500 miles) I had and drove HEMI 57 the tilt of the wheel "right hand down" got progressively worse. Now bear in mind that we drive on the left hand side of the road here (Right Hand Drive) so the "crown" is to my right under most circumstances.

I reckon HEMI 57's wheels needed aligning and the steering wheel centred. That might be worth a thought too.

The 300C is significantly more vague at straight ahead than SRT 61 so driver adjustments like MrHappy mentions are more pronounced.

Should we look at getting SRT steering gears then? I think it's just a 9 land vs an 8. isn't it?

I asked a local dealership about this "crown" in the road, he said it was normal. I told him that of all the cars I've owned, I've never had one that does this... He said, for $69 we can check the alignment... Oh yeah, sure! I just told you what was wrong, either you can fix it or you can't... Not, we'll take a look for $69 crap! Man, my hand gets tired from holding the wheel to the left all the time... Since I mostly drive in the left lane! When I'm in the right lane, it pulls to the left, but not as often as the other... I'm going to have the dealership that I purchased it at take a look at the TSB Right Lead/Pull and see if that helps... Anyone with any other ideas for a fix? This just isn't fun! New car that can't even hold a straight line?

I know where you are coming from but try not to get too upset about this. Easy for me to say - I was pissed a few years back. The car is very crown sensitive and there has been other cars like that over the years. I had one that was much worse. If you really do have the right pull issue (keep in mind it was a problem two years and longer ago - DC has most likely adressed it by now in new cars) get the fix. You most likely do not have it if the car is relatively new. If you get the fix it is not some sort of miracle fix. It will be a little better but like I said the car tracks in general to where the road points. Hey it means things are tight and not sloppy.

Doubt that will help on it's own. The SRT8 has different suspension and wheels/tyres too.

Snoopdolks, Aussie member, fitted a set of SRT8 wheels & tyres to his 300C Hemi and says the difference is unbelievable. Steering response is so much better. So based on his experiences/comments, might be worth a 20" mod to not only transform the look of your ride but also the driveability .
