A/C question

If my a/c is on and the recirculation button is pressed (amber light on) and the compressor light is amber (snowflake light) things are good. If I take the driver side control knob and put it to automatic everything appears normal. If I take the passenger side control knob and put it to automatic the snowflake light blinks twice and cuts off. So does the recirculate light. If I press the recirculate button the light cuts on and stays on. If I press the snowflake light again, it blinks twice and then cuts off. Shouldn't that stay on? If I take the control knob off the automatic setting it will cut back on. And both temp settings are at 62 degrees.

If you have the right hand switch in Auto, the computer is in control of the A/C compressor and where the air comes out (lower, mid, or defrost outlets). If you press the snowflake (compressor button), it blinks to tell you it's in auto. It also selects recirculate or fresh air, but you can overide that part temporarily. If you push the recirculate button it comes on and recirculates for about 10 mins, then goes back to auto. This helps if you get behind ol'smokey. It seems to do a pretty good job for me. I usually keep the right knob in auto and left knob on a lower fan speed. Both my temp. setting nearly always stay at 72.

If you continually press the recirculation button in the mornings like I do then your windows will fog up at times. The recirculation button is the only way I can stop foul odors from coming in….even though it has the cabin air filter. Wish it trapped more odors from coming in from outside….like ol’ smokey.

Okay that's cool (no pun intended lol). I was just making sure that the compressor switch wasn't malfunctioning when the right control knob is in the auto position.
