Angry This Was Not My Day (or my 300Cs)

Just got my car back from the dealer who replaced the passenger power seat assembly (it jammed) only to discover the resulting damage:

1. Upper door pannel - appears to have been punctured by a tool
2. Lower door pannel - scratched/gouged around the storage bin opening
3. Plastic threshold - scratched/gouged
4. Lower B-pillar molding (center pillar) - scratched/gouged
5. Painted portion of the threshold - scratched
6. Seat - Side bolsters covered in grease

Thursday I'm bringing my mother's car to Lexus for service. It should be interesting to see if there is any difference.

Please tell me you're taking your ride back to that dealer and demanding more, AND BETTER work!

Blankster,
That's a shame your C was mistreated by the tech who did the powerseat repair. I would not have left the dealership until the damages were addressed by management and I was satisfied with what was needed to make the situation right. You would have to do a lot of convincing to get me to return to this dealership.

On the other hand, I think you already know the answer to the service you will receive from the Lexus dealership...

dealers

I always make sure I double check my car inside and out after work has been done at the dealerships !!! That way I can nail them right there and then .
What will ultimately make me not buy another chrysler vehicle is the lousy care and respect of my car when it goes into service !!!

Regarding the damage - I didnt see it until I got home - I did the usual walk-around the outside at the dealer and all looked well.

They were good at one time (when they were just a Jeep dealer) but then they bought a Chrysler/Dodge business and merged them together and that is when the problems started.

This is the third time there was damage (the first 2 were repaired no questions asked)

- Center dash by the ashtray/heated seat switches - scratched while servicing the center trim piece.

- Lower trim under the steering wheel - Scratched/tabs broken while repairing the power tilt wheel.

There is no excuse for having clumsy oafs manhandling your car like that. I always check my vehicle inside and outside before I ever drive it off the premises, and I know the general manager personally. Good luck and I hope they do the right thing…..but if I were you I would consider taking it somewhere else next time.

Yep, once you leave the place its almost impossible to get them to repair it. Learned from an early age to always check the car over well before leaving any place where you have had work done.

I set the expectations right away. I tell them I'm really picky with my car and will do a full inspection when the car service is complete. Exterior, interior, engine.

I toss in a few dealer experiences I've had to justify my a-hole-ness and tell them if they do things right, I'll be their best customer. But if things go wrong, I'm going to be a pain in the A.

If they KNOW you will be a potential pain, they usually take extra care.
