Safety Package Question

Just bought a 2005 300C with 8000 miles on it (had it 24 hours now). I'm so PLEASED with this car! Still learning about what I bought

question: If I have the rear parking assist does that indicate that I must have the side curtain airbags? I've looked and it doesn't seem to be marked anywhere (if it is can you let me know where).

So in other words, could the car only have the rear parking assist or would the original owner had to have purchased the whole package?

Thanks guys/gals

Sorry if this is answered somewhere else already; I tried a search and came up with nothing.

Protection Group II comes with the following.

Cabin Air Filtering System
P225/60R18 AST Self-Sealing Tires
ParkSense(TM) Rear Park Assist System
Supplemental Side Curtain Front and Rear Air Bags

If you have the Continental self sealing tires, then you got the Protection Group. As far as I know, there is no way to independently tell if you have the side air bags.

jrm6c7...Glad to hear you are enjoying your new ride. I have the Protection Group II with both but I do not know if they can be added separately. I would recommend taking your vin # to a dealer and seeing if they can access your car and determine what it was originally sold with.

In the Charger at least, the side and rear pillar plastic trim panels have markings (SRS) to indicate the presence of airbags, I think its required for the safety of rescue and junkyard workers, so they dont cut into the charges. Is this not the case in the 300?

I couldn't find any markings of my side air bags. To be honest, I couldn't tell where they tucked those balloons!

I have them on mine and the markings are there as well as you stated.

Excellent photo, every car I have seen with WC air bags has these markings on the upper B pillar or roof.

Keep in mind (at least on the '05) the 300 series does NOT have side airbags, Window curtain airbags are not the same as side airbags. Strange that they did not include side airbags like on so many Hyundais and charged extra for the WC bags.

I don't think the rear parking assist could be ordered separately. I would be willing to bet you do have the side curtain airbags...
