Perplexed by the Chrysler website

I was just fooling around today on the Chrysler website. I tired to configure a 2007 300C with the SRT Design group option. Among other things the website tells you that the SRT design group option includes 20 inch tires on special SRT design group wheels. Then when I added the protection group to the same car it tells me I now get the 18 inch self sealing tires with no mention of the special SRT design group wheels.

I actually called the 800 Chrysler number and I spoke to 4 different people and NO ONE knew the answer concerning which tires/wheel you get on an SRT design group car that includes the protection group. BTW, the local dealership had no idea either. Maybe ResumeSpeed will know.

The lack of knowledge at the company and dealership level about Chrysler's own products never ceases to amaze me. Don't get me wrong. I love my 300C and am strongly considering getting another C or an SRT but I figure that you are pretty much on your own or have to depend on forums like this one when it comes to getting any help.

I whole-heartedly agree with that statement. I have learned more about my car here than I ever could have dreamed. I now know more about it than anyone at the dealership, including most of the service techs! I had to stop them 2 weeks ago from putting organic 10W30 oil in an SRT8 (0W40 Mobil 1 factory fill - and it says that on the filler cap!).

The SRT Design package is brand-new so there are likely to be web page issues, but the sales staff at the stealership not knowing is unexcusable.

I really hate this.
Now there are gonna be SRT look alikes all over the place.
I feel even more bad for people who have SRT's because now there is no way to tell them apart.
Boy what Chrysler is trying to do to make a fast buck.

Yeah, the fast buck they are... but you'll be able to tell em apart.... when you get on em!

I'd assume the two groups aren't compatible since a part of one (self-sealers) would negate a part of the other. That's usually how they've been in the past.

Angry Greeed!...

Sheeshh..I think it's DISREPECT of incredible proportions to REAL SRT8 owners, for Daimler to produce the FAKE8. It's just a low budget kick in the huevos...

In my opinion, The FAKE8 model will alienate DC's strongest supporters, and will canabalize the sales of REAL SRT8's.

Shame on you DC!

Mercedes does the same thing with an AMG package. I believe you get the same wheels and other appearance features of the AMG line. Of course you don't get what is really behind the AMG name, the drivetrain etc. Not a big deal to me actually, people can do whatever they want to their cars, to each his/her own. I believe that lots of C owners at this site have put on the rear spoiler, SRT wheels, etc. Many of them are not trying to pose, but actually like the way the mods look on their car. I don't see a problem with it...just my .02. Chrysler like any company is gonna try and make a buck. I actually like the idea of the SRT package on the C. You get the best of both worlds. I bet it will do really well.

Always remember ladies and gentleman, I drive a base 300 with an engine upgrade and wheels.

For those that don’t know what the hell I’m talking about. This is what I’ve been told by other 300 owners who have actually ventured under my hood.

They have already blurred the line between all the various trim levels. So I say you don’t have to work hard at being a sleeper.

I agree with what Mr. Happy said. One option negates the other since self sealers come with the protection group. DCX customer support is totally clueless and I wouldn't bother to waste my time speaking with them. Reminds me of the “old” days when those who ordered SRT8’s were being told the largest crock of crap from these people. Because of this site and the one ran by Specler people were able to sift through the BS and know what was actually going on with their vehicles.
