my HUGE problem

ok guys i'm really gonna need your advice on this
i got a DUI in march!! as part of my punishment i had my license suspended for 6 months. after six months i got my license back (many stipulations) or so i thought... long story short, i got arrested the other day for driving without a license. they said my license was still suspended for never gettin a interlock system on my car!! WTF?!! they never told me i had to do this to drive again.
i definatly don't want one of those huge things on my babie...
do u guys think i owuld be better off spending the money i had saved for my rims and just buy a piece of shyt car and get it installed on that and just garage my 300c for 6 months, and just take her out for a short weekend drive here and there? then i can just get CHEAP insurance on the 300too!
anyone have any ideas???

The device dont seem that bad!!!

Here is a link showing you what it looks like if you dont know:http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/saf...red/interlock/

I would just put it on and get it over with and save your rim money for your rims. It could be a whole lot worst getting cought drinking and driving, dont you think?

You got lucky and its a small price to pay considering the alternative.
Good luck.

Wow I’m sorry for your troubles. That makes a nice bees nest of crap to have to sort through. I’m not familiar with the ignition interlock system you’re talking about. I put a link at the bottom that covers the Ignition Interlock program for the state of Florida. Apparently your driver’s license must contain the letter P to show you’re authorized to drive, but with this device. So your license didn’t show that? Is this why they say you’re driving without a license?
I would be tempted to just get an old car as you say and park the C for awhile. Then have the device put on this older car and do your time. You know you’re going to get chit from people about the DUI…but hey we all make mistakes. Thank goodness you didn’t harm anyone under the influence (right?) Live and learn. Do you think you’ll need legal council? I wish you luck and many future sober driving miles!

http://www.hsmv.state.fl.us/ddl/IID.html

This link also lists the only two official providers the state allows for this device. The device doesn't look all that huge.

Sorry to hear that!
Everybody makes mistakes, just don't make them twice!
You are talking about you don’t like to put this “huge” device in your car.
What they are showing is a small handheld unit, don’t look big it all!
So what is the big deal about having it your car? And needed to by a 2nd car to put it in?
Or did I miss something here?
And you said you got arrested again, does that mean you license will be suspended again?

Good luck and I wish you all the luck getting this resolved !
Gary

wow, i didnt know this device even existed!

i am actually watching the movie "40 Year-Old Virgin" right now as i type this and i thought that the club scene where the drunk girl gets into the PT Cruiser and asks Andy to blow into the breathalizer device was just for comic purposes. im not sure if we even have these in TX..

how much is this device going to run you?

Well it does actually seem like a pain in the a**. Not only do you have to blow into it every time you start the car, it'll beep at random times and you have to blow into it then too, otherwise your lights start flashing and horn honking making you look like an idiot.

Is there someone in the Navy you can check with about that out of state license thing? I thought you didn't have to ... unless your DUI means you no longer have that exemption.

How long is the interlock required, one year? The junker doesn't seem like a bad idea. But PLEEZE don't drink and drive any more!

Sorry to hear of your misfortune!

I say grab a beater car and toss it on that. Or, toss it on the 300C, it's not too bad.

Couldent you just have some one else blow in it or fill up some balloons befor you take off for the night... I heard thoes devices are a joke, if anything its just an inconvenience, and its not actauly going to help anyone that has a drunk driving problem...

Oh I say put it on the 300c, why make the situation worse and more of a pain for you, having to deal with a beater car and doing the install on that, and when your done with the beater you have to sell it, or let it sit around..... If you put it on the 300 you can still drive you car and in 6 months just un install it like a bad cd player
