So the cosmetic changes are not that significant. Any information about increased horsepower for the 2008 models (I recall a post you made about the 2009 SRT8 getting a big bump to over 500 hp)? GM has their 362 hp Pontiac G8 GT coming soon. Motortrend reported the upcoming CTS-V will have 600 hp! I'd like to see Chrysler bump the power a bit.

No HP changes for the 2008 models. Performance numbers are being kept very quite for next year's all-new 5.7 and 6.4L Hemi's.

The new 5.7 VVT model year 2009 for sure, the 6.4 most likely 2009...

HP/TQ numbers are pure speculation at this point, they just started road testing the new 5.7 last month. MDS and vvt is 100% for certain.

vvt=variable valve timing.

In theory, there's an optimum time for intake and exhaust valves to open and close for any given rpm. by varying the timing throughout the rpm range, you can broaden the rpm range in which the engine is operating optimally.

The benefits are in increased hp and fuel efficiency as compared to fixed valve timing.

Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong here, but from what I understand, the 6.1L hemi already has VVT and is one of the 1st ever to offer it in a push-rod engine. I understand that's how they push so much power from these engines and why they rev so nicely. It only makes sense that it would eventually trickle down to the 5.7L hemi. I've heard rumors of the 6.4L hemi having 525+ hp, but that figure seems kinda high unless they make some major changes to the way the engine breaths or offer some sort of forced induction. My guess would be more like 450-460 hp NA at the top end. The 7.0L Z06 is only pushing 505 hp and that engine breaths waaayyy better than ours do. Even the Viper's 8.3L engine is currently pushing just a little over 500 hp.
