I've heard rumors of the 6.4L hemi having 525+ hp, but that figure seems kinda high unless they make some major changes to the way the engine breaths or offer some sort of forced induction. My guess would be more like 450-460 hp NA at the top end. The 7.0L Z06 is only pushing 505 hp and that engine breaths waaayyy better than ours do. Even the Viper's 8.3L engine is currently pushing just a little over 500 hp.
No vvt on the 6.1 engines...

The 6.4 crate engines (392) put out 525-540hp...

The new 2008 Viper 8.4 with vvt is rated at 600 hp...

That's not the way I understand it. I've heard that the current 6.1 hemi is one of the only push rod engines in history to offer VVT. That's why it performs as well as it does. I guess we could ask this question of the SRT engineers during the next session to confirm it.

I'll believe it when I see the dyno. It just doesn't seem possible out of a NA push rod engine.

I was referring to the current 8.3 ltr Viper, not the one that is yet to come.

Is that dyno of a NA 6.4L engine? If so, that is very, very impressive. I wonder what they did with the internals to generate that kind of power? It just doesn't seem like it should be possible in a NA pushrod engine of that displacement. That engine must be sucking air like a mutha and the exhaust must be wide open. Not to mention some serious tweaking of the computer that we don't get in our 6.1's. And the torque figure is also very impressive. I can't wait to drive one when it comes out.

Actually, it's the other way around. The 5.7 Hemi was developed first, the 6.1 was derived from the 5.7.

I was referring to VVT, which I believe the 6.1 currently has & the 5.7 doesn't.

He is correct...in fact there two more variants under testing as we speak. Other interest is the VCT and ISD....

VCT = Variable Camlobe Timing

ISO = Idle Shut Off

I have a 300 LTD which has been a great car for me and so i am looking at getting the same car only a 2008. My sales manager sent me the specs and colours on the 2008 and was a little dissapointed to find out that anything below the c is going back to a 4 speed automatic from the 5 that has been fitted to all models for the past couple of years
