I don't think you will see the next gen 300 in early '09, that's only a year and a half away. The original schedule called for a launch date in the summer of 2010, as a 2011 model. Chrysler only recently decided move the launch up a year, to the 2010 model. It's no easy task to take a vehicle launch from three years down to two. An early 2009 launch would cut the launch time in half (3 years >> 18 months), pretty much an impossible task.

Below is a Chrysler timeline chart covering the vehicle development and build stages. It's a few years old and I am sure some of these timeframes have been shortened a little. But it gives an overall idea of how long it takes from the program "vision" to the final launch. Looking at the chart around the "two-years to go" stage (-98 weeks) it shows the "Product/Process design" as being complete, I don't believe they are even near that stage yet. At 18-months to go, they would have to already be building "S0" models, and if so there would be spy pics all over the place. I'm sure I will have so more solid info down the road a bit, I'll keep my eyes and ears open as always.

Rs you are always the most knowlegable on this forum i thank you for you info. So if they was launching summer of 2010 as a 2011 model and they have pushed it up one year, that means summer of 09 as a 2010 model so my intel was off by a quarter or two at most. So by may of 09 we should be able to start ordering the new model 2010 300 ?, Ill wait to hear from you for more info

Still waiting for pic of the 2008 300c. Also, where's the pics of the facelifted 2008 Charger?

They aren't going to post them. This happened with the 08 grand cherokee srt8's, and they are being delivered to dealers right now.

No exterior facelift for 2008 Charger, just an interior refresh of which there are pics.

When it comes to pics for new models, Chrysler is pretty much screwed up all the time. They release 2008 Magnum SRT8 pics 9 months before production startup, yet as you mentioned, models like the Grand Cherokee that have been in production for over a month have no official pics released.

What's tip start? And reconfigurable displays on all models, or just the SRT8?! OMG that's going to .. completely destroy anything else on the market.

Edit: Nevermind, it's an SRT8 feature. So anything to elaborate on about it? Looking it up on google, the reconfigurable display is no different than what we have - worse, even, because it displays less and uses a lower res screen.

In fact, the way it sounds, it sounds like they're going to demote the 300c to the cheapo screen used in the v6s o_O OH HELL NO.

Well, first of all, it's on many of the Chrysler LLC '08s, that means Dodge Grand Caravan, Nitros, etc.

What I've found from some literature is:

"Tip Start: A feature that allows the driver to crank and start the engine by turning the key to the start position and then releasing it. The vehicle electronics will then take over the cranking and starting process to ensure that proper engine speed is attained, to release the starter motor at the appropriate time, and to prevent double starts."

So basically, there's no more direct electrical linkage from the ignition switch to the starter motor, aka "start by wire".

It's probably what all push button start systems use; the next step in improvement from just preventing the starter motor from turning if the engine is already running.

FYI, there is also a picture of the new remote that confirms the earlier posting of the key which looks like the Mercedes transponder keys on the Dodge Grand Caravan site.

I would imagine that this feature is needed because of the remote start that is standard on the 2008.
