2008 LX models: Spied: 2008-2009 Chrysler 300 facelift

A few days ago, I read an article about a facelift of Chrysler's 300.

"Spy photographers have snapped some photos of a facelifted Chrysler 300 prototype. The car's headlights are unchanged — so far — but it appears to have a new set of taillights. From the five test cars that have been spotted to date, only the tail-ends have been covered in camouflage, suggesting the changes to the rear might be the focus of this update.

Some of the most extensive changes might come to the interior, where a complete overhaul is said to be planned. Speaking to the Automotive Press Association in May, Ralph Gilles, vice president of design at the Chrysler Group said, "we need an update […] you're going to see a significant improvement in the interior of that car." Gallery after the jump…" (it is an article of Leftlanenews)

As I have the intention to buy a new car this year (probably a 300C Diesel - car that is sold in Europe, continent where I live), I wonder if the facelift will be part of the model year 2008 (and in production in August 2007), or not earlier than 2009 (and thus in production not earlier than August 2008).

Has anyone more information?

Many thanks.

spy shots so far from the same folks who gave us the 2008 Magnum spy shots: a mule with 300 Base/Touring front with a covered rear. IMO no change in the shape or change to a Charger bumper, and probably LED taillights for all models plus maybe changes on the rear warning mechanism, could include a camera (see center above license plate holder). The front changes are not ready yet, so no spy shots.

Editing again: I reread ResumeSpeed's post - and of course he already mentioned the rear camera.

I am UK based and intended ordering my 300C CRD this month but an article in a recent Autocar motor mag indicated that new rear light clusters and possibly a redesigned boot lid plus a major revamp of the interior were proposed for later this year.

I contacted DCUK Customer Services who stated that an update of the model was confirmed (without stating what the update consisted of) and that the facelift would be effective in the 2008 year build model to be released in the UK in October 2007.

In consequence, as I intend to keep my car for a number of years, I have decided not to order my new vehicle until the 2008 model is released.

The LX wont get it til next year.

Thats pretty correct information! CAN = Controller Area Network Designed to run at a substantially faster rate than OBDII. It can process more information and at a faster speed. It will soon be required by all car manufacturers. Mercedes has been using the CAN system for quite a while now and its working great and makes things easier to diagnose. The 2008 LX platform will most likely run 2 CAN systems, CAN B (interior CAN data bus) and CAN C (engine and chassis CAN data bus). I just recently graduated from a Mercedes Benz ELITE training center after graduating Universal Technical Institute and the Mercedes cars have so much information you can look through if you have the dealers diagnostic equipment.

Well, thanks mate!!! I am more interested in buying a Charger but I am a fan of all the LX models and like to stay on top of all the info and want people are doing to their LX. My Mercedes training may prove to help some.
