What to look for at pick up?

Ok, your order finally comes in after a grooling 5 month wait coming from Rail yard waiting, the train ride, the truck over to the dealer.... You go into the delears and before you sign your first born away, you walk around the car and look for ????
in other words... After you all got your car, are there things you know of now that you would have liked to have known about right there in front of the General manager?

This can be very useful to ALL of you who ordered and are soon going to be picking up your rides.

I have a C coming with Sound/Nav group II, and Uconnect.

Thanks!!

Look for any paint defects or any type of damage inside and out and point them out to the dealer right away so they can take note. Open your hood and make sure everything is ok and filled up. Other then that enjoy your new ride!

Check out the rocker panels.

The one thing wrong with mine was the driver's side rocker panel. This is the plastic trim underneath the doors. At the front, it makes a 90 degree turn into the wheel well. Mine was cracked right at this bend.

The service department said this type of damage is not unknown....it occurs when being loaded/unloaded. Indeed, when I questioned if it was one or multiple pieces, they had two damaged pieces they had previously replaced which the used to show me how it is one piece that has a "telescope" feature.

I totally agree. I do suggest you focus on appearance items; paint chips, scratches, seat leather cuts, headliner and carpet stains, etc. because they are hard to prove once you take delivery (as in who caused it; you or the dealer). Other problems (i.e. mechanical, electrical, etc.) can always be corrected with a post-delivery visit.

I would also make sure to look down along each painted panel and look for deviations in the reflection. That's how you find little dents and outees. If you have a sunroof be sure to look for dents and outees in the roof. Sometimes factory folk make mistakes.

Most of all, do not be pressured. Take your time and look it over a few times. Your eyes will not "want" to see any imperfections the first time over.

I know how you feel.. Just take you time and look at everything and do it without the salesman over your shoulder.. I was out there for about 30mins looking at everything. Open all the doors, look at the leather for defects, look at the chrome for stracthes. You get the idea. Good luck..

My C was delivered with one chrome piece missing on the rear passenger side door. Actually, not missing, it was black instead of chrome.

make sure you get a full tank of gas before you leave. mine car had only a half of tank not enough to get home with after a 2 hr long drive. when i told them about it they said they only put a half tank in and will give me the other half tank when and if i bring back the dealer survey from chrysler.

so needless to say i never got my other half of tank for gas. but i did fell good when i finshed filling out the survey.....it was not a good one
