I think any filter used here with a filter magnet is a great deal more effective.

The Purolator's PureOne and PremiumPlus filter media is exactly the same. Same color, texture, softness, dimple ridging, smell, etc. No, I didn't taste it PureOne states it as "Micronic Filtration" media and the PermiumPlus says "Multi Fiber, High Density" media.

Ahhh, so the pureone just has more media and a different drain valve config.
Correct?

So, any unofficial recommendations you have from your disections?

Interesting that Purolator's PremiumPlus, which appears to be one of the best, was also the cheapest.

Purolater PermiumPlus is what I bought after the dissection. It was solid, good by-pass valve design, plenty of filter media, and as stated above by ylf, it's currently the cheapest. There was nothing I saw to warrant spending 4x as much on an oil filter. Other than the Fram, STP, and ST with their cardboard/felt end caps, all the filters were good quality so buy and use what you feel comfortable putting on you Hemi

Another good filter to check out is the Fram X2 Extended Guard filter.

It is nothing like the orange can of doom and is rated for at least 7000mile oil change.

Plus it is completely synthetic fiber media.

I've been sold on the Mobil One filter along with the Mobil One oil. Am I wasting money on the filter? Sounds like the WIX/NAPA are "best buys."

Deep Lava,

Just came across this thread and it's a dandy...Nice work. If your interested, i'll cover the cost of any other filters you have not tested or that have become available since the original testing period. Two filters that come to mind are the Fram X2 along with the K&N. Are there any others?

You examine them and i'll buy them. Let me know...

GREAT that you did the write up and gooding timing because I'm coming up to my first oil change/check up (3000 mile) and was wondering what the dealer would put on for an oil filter since I didn't have any knowledge which filter to ask for, only thing is that I saw the KN filter and was leaning towards that brand, so I was disappointed when that brand wasn't disected.
But I did like the write up very much...Thanks..

This should be a STICKY item..
