Angry OMG, Dent Help Please.......

Some dumb ass decided it was a nice idea to kick my driver side rear pass door.

it's a rounded dent similar to what would happen if someone leaned on something and dented it...

it's centered also, i was wondering if there is any solution out there to remove dents like this...

without going to a body shop.

one place estimated 800 the other 400 so i'm assuming that the real damage isn't that significan't given the low price...

and the place with the low price is litterally world famous....

and i've done work with them before.... anyway... that's not why i'm hear...

any tips that might remove this blemish in my briliant black 300c

Check the local auto store for dent doctor. Something I've been thinking about using as well. I have a minor dent on my ride that I also need to get rid of.

*DO NOT DO THIS*

Take the door panel off and kick it back out?

Exclamation If

IF, Big IF, you don't think that the dent is so severe that it stretched the metal, or created a crease;

Toilet Plunger.

Clean the area in question, then leave it wet, push the toilet plunger directly over the dent, then pull.

No, I am not kidding. I have done this successfully on doors and quarter panels in the past and popped out dents.

I have heard of this done before also, as long as it is not a severe dent.

There are many legitimate, mobile Paintless Dent Removal (PDR) companies that provide this serivce and who do an excellent job.

You'll find them listed in your telephone book, usually under auto body repair. Many of them hang out at local car washes and vehicle dealerships to provide the service. The majority will drive to where you want the work performed such as your home or where you work.

Some national brand companies provide discounts as well, such as DentPro, who offers 20% off if you are a AAA member. The whole procedure will only take minutes to perform.

and Dan...I'm glad you metioned the toilet plunger thing first! I would never have confessed to doing the same thing since I didn't want others to think I'm bizarre. However, now that you have disclosed, I also declare I have done the same thing in the past on previous vehicles, including to a dent on top of the hood!

If the dent is not where the 'crease' is near the top of the door (even with the door handles) and the paint is not damaged, Dan's toilet plunger method might work. Worth a try anyway. Body shops use a tool that is basically the same thing but they hook shop air (from a compressor) to it to create even more suction.

If the body line/crease is damaged then you're probably out of luck on a do it yourself fix.

from the sounds of it, the ding king is probably too small for your repair. i've used it on door dings quite successfully in the past, but if someone used their foot, its probably much bigger.

it looks like some clown sat ontop of my 300 while i had it parked in NW D.C. last weekend. i took down the headliner and popped some of it out from the underside. i bet the same thing would work with your door, take off the inner door pannel and try gently pushing it out.

ever use one of those foamy sanding blocks? 3M makes them. they flex, but only a little bit. i used one to remove a dent on my friend's volvo, worked great. the dent was in his rear fender. i pulled back the carpet, put the foamy sanding block on the dent, then hit it lightly a few times with the small face of a brick. the foam blocks dissapate the impact so you won't see a mark on the inside of the door pannel. might be something to try.

If nothing else, a reputable company will come out, give you a free estimate, and will be up front about what dings can and can't be removed with PDR from your vehicle.

I once didn't believe a huge dent left on the front fender of a previous car could be removed when someone took batting practice and managed to line drive a softball out into the parking lot right into my car! I was wrong!
