Car and Driver

Any opinions on this magazine? Someone in the office is selling subscriptions for their kid to go to Lichtenstein or some other such place for a class trip. $20 for 24 issues.

In my opinion, Car and Driver is a good magazine with a strong bias towards sporty handling cars. If a car's performance is important to you, it is a great source. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a minivan, or something like that, I prefer Motor Trend. I am not sure how many people buy minivans based upon their cornering ability. I find in vehicles of this type, Car and Driver often values performance over functionality. Bottom line, if you are a performance oriented individual, then Car and Driver is a good choice.

It’s not bad. It seems that the car mags all start to look a like after awhile. They do have quite a few articles that members discuss on this forum every once in awhile. So help the kid get to Lichtenstein and make PM a happy girl!

Still the best of the bunch

C & D is the best US auto mag out there and easily the best-selling one. I've been a pretty steady subscriber since 1979.

Recently they overhauled the look of the mag with mixed results and put a couple of the more senior writers out to pasture - most notably Brock Yates. Csaba Csere the long-standing chief editor is a very techy type and the content of the mag has moved steadily in that direction at the expense of humourousness and general quality of the writing, but it is still far, far better than Motor Trend, Road & Track and its closest rival, Automobile.

Thanks Phunter1,Danno and Gord T!
Well PD...Can we send their kid on their class trip? I think it is a good cause in itself...If we don't like the magazine then we can keep looking for a different one. Just think we won't have to get rough and tumble with anyone at Barnes and Nobles when they don't let us in by the racks....lol

C&D's good plus it sounds like a winner because it's for a "cause" no not you PM! LMAO the kid goin' to wherever on the class trip lol

I'm also afraid PM the advertisements don't include "car check out night wear" like robes and slippers but there are some good articles though!

Hehehe

Just make sure you don’t take the cover off of the C & D mag and use it as a disguise for your latest girlie mag PD. That’s such an old school trick! PM might get wise as you stare into the pages of your C & D for hours on end!!
