Remember the movie "Chrisitne"

Hi All,

Help me please, my car is going to kill me. I have a 2005 300C with an accelarotor pedal that has a mind of it's own. I have it at the dealer right now but of course they cannot find any problems. I am admitting right now I am a chick but I am not a dumb one or I wouldn't be on this forum. It has happened 2 x's now. First time no big deal, driving along felt the pedal go down from underneath my foot, car surged a little, peddle "popped" and all was back to normal (I am not a drinker nor do I do drugs). About 100 miles later I was accelerating to get around a car, I admit I probably put the peddle to the floor, however it stayed there. I freaked, not a car person did exactly what I wasn't supposed to do. Lived through it and didn't cause any accidents this time. I told the dealership I wanted the supervisor to take it for the weekend and drive for at least 100 miles. Told him I wanted to know he would feel comfortable letting his mother or 16 year old daughter drive the car. Any suggestions. I am definitely affraid of this car.

PS I am a realtor and I drive clients around

HELP ME PLEASE

ask your dealer to check if any trim around the pedal area sticks out

How would the pedal be pulled down? There are no cables or motors attached to it, are there?
It would have to be something catching the pedal right?

First of all kudos for the admittance of gender. It matters not to us what gender you are and I wish others in this forum would follow suit. (hint, hint!....you know who you are)
To your problem. There have been a couple of members that reported some gas pedal issues. I’ve put links below. There were others who mentioned the floor mat getting caught up in the problem and not allowing free motion of the pedal. None of this sounds like what you’re experiencing. I hope the dealership is able to give you a definitive answer to what the problem may be. There is nothing worse than experiencing an issue and then not being able to replicate it for the service people. Keep us updated and good luck!

I remember that movie, because it was filmed at my high school during my sophmore year.

Makes me feel old

check to make sure the carpet under the dash (close out panel) that covers the underside of the instument panel has not fallen down and getting in the way of the pedal. there is nothing that can pull the pedal , there are no cables like the old days .

the 300C has a drive by wire system which means you apply pressure on the pedal, a sensor recognises the amount the pedal is depressed, tells the computer what it's found and the computer calculates decides how much fuel to throw into the engine. there really shouldn't be anything that is able to pull the pedal. it probably just got stuck on something.

I use to work at GM and drove late 90 model STS's and the same thing use to happen when you applied the gas, but only in park. Icould never understand why?

Good choice on the car! "Christine" was also a Chrysler product - Plymouth Fury I believe!
