House Mistaken for a Restaurant on Navigation!

I'll try and post pics tonight, has anyone else noticed serious mistakes like this?

We've all seen grocery stores, gas stations and other business on the navigation that have changed names or went out of business; that is normal. But in my neighborhood there is a house address that is mistaken for a restaurant. I live in a community called Spy Glass in Whittier, CA. Nice homes... upper middle class, so when I seen a resturant in the middle of a track, I thought this would be interesting to go check out.

I'll post pics on the navigation reading and the house it self....

It may be they run a catering company or other food related business and use their house as an office. Most of the address are tied to phone numbers so if the house has a business phone then it may show up.

The problem is not with the software per se. It is with the mapping people who provide info on location of businesses, addresses, etc. That gets translated into several pieces of digital data, loaded on to a database, that gets interpreted by a GIS software into a map.
In my case, when I type in my home address in Google maps, it shows the marker on the house that is 3 houses over, not mine. Could be as simple as one digit off an address number, or a degree long/lang difference...

reading this post made me realize that in 1 year of ownership of my car, i've NEVER used the navigation once


I'm a good human navigator...really no need i guess

happened to me out near vegas, ended up in a subdivision on a cul de sac when we had punched in a dealership!

Stories from Japan of earlier 90s navigation had people trying to make left or right turns while they were on an elevated highway. The map folks at the time forgot about levels, mapping everything on the ground! Yikes!
