Angry Hood release lever broke

My parking brake light was on so I pressed the peddle down and then pulled the release. When the peddle popped back up, something, perhaps the sudden jolt, cause my hood release handle to break and fall to the floor. It is a simple plastic item. After inspecting it, it appears that one of the hinge pivot points has broke off.

Of course, I plan on taking it to the dealer to have it replaced under warranty.

I am sure it is a simple repair, but I am still upset that it happened.

Has anyone else experienced this same part failing ???
