chimney soot

every time i wipe my car down i notice from the trunk down theres this black soot, at first i thought it was brake dust, but theres just to much of it. i can ride around the block with very little braking. when i get home the back end is covered with this s--t. could it be carbon? even without getting on the gas? this stuff finds its way in every nook and cranny. anyone else with this problem?

That does seem excessive from just a short drive around the block. If your 300 is heavily waxed, I believe dirt/dust will easily stick to it. I use to have the same issue (not as heavily as you described) but it immediately diminished after adding the SRT-8 type spoiler. My trunk and lower rear fascia now have very little black dust. It makes me think it has something to do with the aerodynamics of air flow.

i have the rear window spoiler and the trunk spoiler. if i use a dry towel to wipe it off, it just smudges. i have to use a cleaner.

Yikes o_O My 300c's rear end gets dirtier than the rest of the car very easily, but it aint soot. It just has to do with aerodynamics...

I wonder if your hemi is burning oil or something.
