? RKE Battery Low

I have a 2005 300C; its got about 4800 miles and it just started warning that the RKE Battery is low. What is that and can I still drive it for a few days?

First, Welcome to the forum!

1) RKE is the battery in your key fobs. - Have both keys checked at the dealer.
2) If you have a Mopar remote start there are some programming problems that need to be resolved.

tekhen, Thanks for the info

Can you believe the service department actually kept the car this morning and said it would probably be a few days. The guy that took in my service order said the RKE Battery has to do with the torque and I could lose power if I kept driving it, but that the technicians would have to check it out. I'm calling them -- I can't believe it something as simple as the battery in my key/remote. (I do not have the remote start feature on my car.)

What can torque have to do with it?

I believe this is a known issue/bug with the Mopar remote starter, as I have this problem also along the auto headlights bug. I think someone in one of the remote starter threads indicated that there is a software upgrade to fix this, but I have yet to contact my dealer to find out. The warning only stays one for about a minute, so some people might never have noticed it. Bottom line, it is not a torque issue, nor is the RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) Battery really low.

torque??? that's a new one!
I would also have them verify that you have the proper software.
Make sure you get everything in writing on this one!

How is this for brilliant guys, BMWs key fob recharges itself anytime it is in the ignition, no batteries to replace. I don't even think Lexus has this (they do have a rear camera though, Bimmer does not).

I would pick my car up from that dealer and drive away as fast as I could!

Go to your local drug store or Radio Shack and pick up a CR2032 battery. They're about the size of a nickle. You can easily replace it yourself.

I have 10 year old RKE fobs with my Plymouth Voyager, 7 year olds with my Mustang, and traded in 6 year olds with the VW Beetle that got replace by the 300C, and never had to replace any battery, ever. I replace the CR2032's in my electronic Rolodex about every two years. It gets used daily. Something doesn't sound right with the battery story. Of course, there just might be a faulty one or two out there.
