Bam...Hit by a Charger.

So, the wife and I are on our way to take out SUV to the shop. We are stopped at red light, I'm in the SUV, and my bride is in the SRT. Out of nowhere I hear a BAM!

I look behind me, and I see my wife getting out of the car. The 2006 Charger behind her didn't stop quick enough and cracked the rear end. The right exhaust is drooping a little bit. I don't see much damage other than that.

The local police show up (two units), take all the information, issue a ticket to the charger driver. Then, next thing I know the driver is cuffed and in the back of one police car for outstanding warrants (it might take longer for Allstate to confirm my story and accept liability...i don't think the guy's "one call" went to his insurance agent).

When I get home I call his insurance (Allstate) and explain the situation. I'm having a great conversation with the young lady on the other end of the phone....what do i find out???? She owns her granddaddy's 197x Dodge Charger...all factory....all original...60k miles. Never been driven in the rain and she drives it 1-2 a week.

Yes, I've asked her to send me a picture...but privacy issues prevent her from using information gathered in a claim to contact me personally. I told her about this forum, and my screen name, so I'm hopeful she'll set up an account here and send me a PM so I can get that picture.

Seems like between my SRT, the Charger hitting me, and the 197x Charger owned by the claims rep...we are "keeping this in the family".

I'm off to a 10:30a appt with the Allstate adjuster. Most likely I'm going to FreebirdSRT's dealer...since they took wonderful car of SRTBEE/Ms. B's "C". That's how we roll in SpaceCityLX. Hit an SRT...go to jail. J/K.

I'll keep all posted on progress.

P.S. The Allstate chick want's to know if she can tow a riding lawnmower with one of the new 2007 Chargers....(what kind of hitch, what size engine). I told her I'd put the question out to the board...and we'll find an answer.

Dang Rob, oh how I wish it was the SUV that got the BAM.

Still need to take the back end apart and look behind the fascia for further damage. I have an extra rear fascia for you. Call me.

He should have known better. Hit an SRT, go directly to jail, do not pass go.

Saweet, those are the best adjusters to have....car people that understand your passion and wanting it to be repaired the right way.

I want a copy.

Like I stated above, you got lucky with a passionate car owner/adjuster.

I have never dealt with the paint dept. at the dealership Rob. Let them look at everything else mechanical with the car, fix that. My painter is not far from the dealership. I trust only him with painting.

I'll keep all posted on progress.
Day to Day with me bro. Call me if you need anything or who to talk to at Helfman.

P.S. The Allstate chick want's to know if she can tow a riding lawnmower with one of the new 2007 Chargers....(what kind of hitch, what size engine). I told her I'd put the question out to the board...and we'll find an answer.
Yes she can. PM me Rob and I can send you all the info. she needs. If this Daytona can haul this camper. I am sure a riding lawnmower will be no problem.

Aint that a bitch of a way to start a morning!!! G'luck getting it all patched up. I'm assuming the Charger guy had outstanding warrants? Sounds a little early to be drinking, so I'm thinking warrants.

Last question: regarding the guy that hit you, did you give him info regarding SpaceCityLX? Plz say NO.

sorry to hear about the accident but it appears you've already have hookups and only a few steps to completion

I told you they were faster and to MOVE OVER !! ......j/k

CRAP !!! Not a fun am by any means -- sounds like already all the wheels are in motion and thankfully visibly looks minor -- to Freebirds point - lets make sure we get all the mechanical chk'd -- which you know the folks at Helfman will be straight up and get you fixed right.

And I am wondering the very same thing as Tracy... did he get a sclx card ??!! --- ... but then again... he might not be seeing his car for a while.....

let me know how I can help..........

Maybe he wanted a SRT and he figured if he hit yours hard enough the 6.1 might pop into his engine bay. Or he wanted to do a 300 front end swap and was too lazy to take everything apart.

In all seriousness, I'm sorry your SRT got hit and I'm glad to hear the wifey is ok. Pretty funny that the guy got hauled off though...
