Am I Supposed to Do This?

This morning something odd happened on my way to the train station.
I have a twisty back road that leads to RT29 here in the 'burbs of Baltimore. On this back road I got stuck behind a de-badged Porsche driving the posted speed limit. I'm kinda going off in my mind because I've got a train to catch and this guy's driving his Porsche like it's made of fine china. He's on a twisty back road and he should be rippin' things in half around the corners! But, no. So I start to give him a proper gap and curse to myself for the 2 or so miles I'm behind him.

BACKGROUND:
Where this back road meets RT29 it's a flat, two lane straight-away for over 3/4 of a mile before you see any more traffic. The cops have nowhere to hide because there's no cover for them. So whoever you turn onto RT29 with you both have two lanes flat and straight and cop-free before you enter a shallow left-hand turn and traffic from RT70 merges in.

So I think to myself, "S#it, man! He's driving a Porsche. When I get to 29 He won't let me pass. He's gonna hand my ass to me."

By the end of the twisty road I'm like "DAMMIT!" Now, I'm a little hot under the collar because it feels like he's going slower and slower and by now I'm on his ass.

We begin to turn on to RT29 and he's at a crawl by now... My blood is boiling.

He makes me sick... I'm gonna go for it...
(and the he begins the left hand turn onto RT29)

WITH. HIM. I. HAVE. HAD. ENOUGH.
(I see him begin his straight-away acceleration as I enter my turn onto 29)

COME. HELL. OR. HIGH. WATER. THIS. PORSCHE. IS. GONNA. PAY.
(as I finish my turn I stand on my accelerater)

He's about three to four car lengths ahead by the time I exit the turn.
I notice the Porsche lurching as it goes climbs through the gears. And also, at this point I see two cool things happen. First a little spoiler pops up out of his ass, and second...

I'm beginning to walk him down! OH SNAP!

WHAT!? I'm not in an SRT! My C shoudn't do this! JESUS REALLY DOES LOVE ME!

By the time we get to the entry traffic from RT70 I had closed the gap conciderably. As we blended into the new traffic pattern I adjusted my speed from about 120 to sane. I worked my way around and through traffic, and as I passed him, I peered through my deep tint and saw a young-ish dude not much unlike myself. And he's not pissed... He just has a look on his face like:
"What is that?"
"How'd you...???"
"I'm in a Porsche... and you're driving a large American....Thing....???"
"Hmm...???"

I made it to the train station with time enough to get a sweet parking spot and wipe the car down. But something bothered me...

Was he giving it all he had? I hope so, but then again... that was a doggone Porsche.

Am I supposed to be able to do what I did?

Why am I so grumpy in the morning? I like my job.

Either way... His slow ass pissed me off, 'cuz Daddy's gotta get to work, dammit.

...and he paid too much for a car that apparently couldn't take me out.

IMO - dumbA$$ was in high gear going up hill, you have an automatic, even in autostick mode it's gonna downshift under load.. Also based on your description, tard boy didn't know how to drive his machine.

so yes you should be able to walk right by him going up hill if he's in the wrong gear.

also if it is a Boxster (sp?) I have walked a few of the lower models.. the turbo v-6 though will kick your arse

Now I could be wrong...BUT...I have not seen a "low end" Porsche have a functional Rear Spoiler, which leads me to believe it was one of their higher Sport/turbo models...which also leads me to believe that it was a person behind the wheel that didn't know what they were doing.

Congrats anyways. haha.

Send a message via MSN to Spectre
actually

The rear of the Boxster has a completely redesigned spoiler that blends in harmoniously with the shape of the body when retracted. The rear spoiler moves up automatically at a road speed of 120 km/h or it can be manually deployed by the driver at any speed. It efficiently reduces rear axle lift and the effect of the rear spoiler is further enhanced by the cleaner flow of air over the new modified roofline.

Great kill story. Congrats.

If it was a boxter, you should've walked it. Do you know what model it was?

No, it was completely clean on the outside which made me think :

A) he was hiding something

or

B) he was hiding something.

I don't think it was a Boxster. It felt really good to creep up on him at speed. Most of all I didn't want to ruin the feeling!

Thanks for the replies!
