How do you LAUNCH?

When I floor it off the line (single foot, brake to gas) I have been happy with the acceleration. However is there a better way to do this for the best possible launch?

What works for you guys? What tricks do you use to get the best off-the-line launches? Brake/Gas launches? What RPM's do you release? ESP disabled? Autostick? Details please if it isn't a secret.

If it makes a difference, my car is currently stock with CAI and Exhaust mods on their way.

I launch with the ESP disabled and no auto stick. Have you tried donuts on a large parking lot? Fun...but painful on the tires (wouldn't do it again though..).

Esp off......no throttle retard . Get the GSM or noesp complete throttle delete even . Pre-load...ever so lightly to a little over 1K . You have an 07 that upshifts automatically,,,,,so put it in autostick and leave it . It will allow more of the power band in than in auto ....allowing you a higher rpm and shift points . Mosh the pedal ...some wheelspin...then it grabs . Now go have at it and report back your results..................

Here's where my ignorance shines through... Did you call me a "retard" or does that mean something else? And what do you mean by "pre-load"? Please elaborate.

Alright....that got a laugh out of me . No...I did not call you a retard . The throttle holds itself back ...or ...retards itself . It reduces (retards) throttle to avoid wheelspin ....but then it takes time to build itself back up ...or bogs the car . Hold the button for seven to ten seconds till it says esp disabled on the instrument cluster . Pre-load means powerbrake to about 1k-1500 rpm and hold it at the light / line ...whatever . Then snap your foot off the brake while moshing the pedal ....all the way through the carpetting and don't let up . Leave it in first...not auto......the 07 will shift for you....and at a higher rpm than auto . For the record....I would never intentionally insult someone on here......but your response was funny . Now I'm glad I took the time to explain it to you.......now go burn rubber grasshopper..... -Mike

*edits* nevermind, he got it..

I have no problems getting the HEMI to bounce off the rev limiter in fully auto mode.

Happy to contribute some comedy to the forum. Thanks so much for the extra details. Very helpful and I look forward to trying tomorrow morning on the way to the office.

One last dumb question(s) please: Brake stands - How rough are they on the car? What is the best way to do them? Is there any reason to do one other than warming up the tires at a drag race?

Brake-stands will only do your tires harm .These cars are made to take a beating and boy does mine ever . So do the track experience cars (they get wailed on !! ) . I burn them at the track to heat them up for traction . ......and on the street ...just to have some fun . You will do no harm to the car .. Traction with too much horsepower (i.e . drag radials with lots of mods/nitros ) has snapped more than a few half-shafts . No problem with a little smokeshow ....now and again ..............

I don't do brake stands, because I've got a bad habit of letting off the gas instead of the brake and nose-diving it.
