Bye Bye Hemi, it was fun while it lasted

The engine choice for 300C's in Great Britain has just been reduced by the withdrawl of the HEMI from UK sale.

We now have a choice of 3.5lt V6 petrol (in Saloon/Sedan only) for how much longer ? the CRD diesel and the SRT8 in Sedan & Touring.

The reason for its demise ? poor sales, very poor residuals and the motoring public in GB overwhelmingly going for the oil burner.

300C HEMI RIP, you will be missed from our shores.

>_> *goes to do some europeeing*

3.5 stays, but the 5.7 leaves :| EGH you and your displacement tax :\ People should be able to drive whatever they want provided they're willing to pay the gas

Oh well, whatever. At least the SRT8 still exists, but wtf for do they have the 3.5?

The CRD is the way to go in high fuel price countries.

i think that the 3.5 is on borrowed time - and then once that goes, we've got a choice of diesel or, er, diesel.

Which is a bugger, because I like and enjoy choice.

that would be even worse - the steering wheel would be on the wrong side of the car !

But anyone lucky (?) enough to buy one of the last HEMIS in the UK got one hell of a deal, pricewise. Although how much it will be worth at trade in time doesn't look to clever.

Don't trade it in anyway! Sell it to a private party that wants a big motor high horse power car... that market will ALWAYS be there!

All this and here's Chrysler coming out with the new Hybrid Hemi that's already in the Aspen & Durango. No, I'm not talking about a hybrid that burns gas & rubber either.

The new 5.7-liter HEMI Hybrid is expected to deliver an overall fuel economy improvement of more than 25%, including an improvement of nearly 40% in the city.

The two-mode system is an electrically variable transmission which uses two electric motors to operate at any nearly any speed ratio through the transmission. The electric motors support hybrid functions: electric vehicle operation, electric boost and regenerative braking, as well as engine starting.

sadly there is very, very little demand for such a beast on this side of the Atlantic - and the few that do indulge in such a sport want to get a 'prestige' brand and still get spanked in the wallet for their troubles.
