U connect delay

My U connect has a 2 second or so delay when I first make a call. It doesn't come on until the other party has answered, and by that I mean you don't hear the other party answer. You just have to know to start talking and saying hello several times when the radio goes off and the uconnect comes on. I have had several people hang up on me because they weren't patient enough to hear anything on my end when they answer and I don't blame them. I was just assuming this was normal for this system, but now wonder. Does anyone else have this problem, or does everyone else have this trouble, making it an aggrivation that we can't do anything about.

Eyern,

Sounds consistant with my u-connect, I just make a point to say "hello" within 2 seconds. Might have some lag do to the the wireless.

Dial the phone number with UConnect and not your phone. When you dial through your phone UC mutes the ringing and first couple seconds of talking on the other end. Dial it through the UC (speak the number) and you will hear the ringing and when they answer. PITA, but not much else you can do!

This is an issue that has to do directly with the brand of phone that you have. I have an LG phone and mine works perfect with dialing from the phone.

If you read in the owners manual it tells you that it is directly related to the phone you are using and whether of not the phone sends the rining signal to the uconnect. The uconnect works great with a razr but no ringing with blackberrys. thus a "delay" on the answer of the blackberry if you dial from the phone. Nothing else can be done unless you are willing to change phones.

I work for a company in the mobile phone space (and thus use a lot of different cell phones) and there's no doubt it's on a per-phone basis...it's just like signal and battery indicators showing up onscreen.

Sound quality can be an issue too if the phone's bluetooth implementation sucks.

Thanks for the info everyone. I still haven't set mine up for voice recognition. I always just dial with my phone. Unfortunately, the statement about it working great with razr's isn't correct, as that's what I have, but the only problem is the one i've mentioned

That's something I've never figured out. I have both indicators showing, but they seem greyed out. Does that mean they're not functioning? I never know because my phone is always fully charged whenever I drive my car.

It's the same with both bluetooth phones I've owned (6600 & 6700). The 6600 was v1.0 and the 6700 is v1.2 I have noticed "CELL" from time to time with my new phone, but I have no idea what that means. I never noticed that with my 6600 though. Everything seems to work, no delays, echo or anything like that, so I guess as long as it works it's fine.

Bernie
