So last week I took my car into a local speed shop that does alot of work for me. I had them install a 180 thermo. in addition to the GSM fan/esp/torque management mod. The nav was working fine prior to when I brought it in, and perhaps 2 days afterwards, I starting getting a message on my nav that read 'NAV MESSAGE'. #1.) I have no clue how to access any messages on the navigation. I couldn't find that anywhere. #2.) It makes this very annoying beeping noise as a warning that there is a message. #3.) A larger message eventually stays on the nav system that reads 'Disc Read Error'. I took out the disc, cleaned it, and put it back in but that didn't do anything.
Do any of you think that the GSM install could have tripped something in the nav or do you think they're unrelated, and just a coincidence that it happened shortly after the install.
Second, the esp switch works 100%; no issues there. The fan switch however only comes on when you flip the swithc and only when the car is actually running (I can hear it), but can't be turned on when the car isn't running (which I thought that was one of the perks to the kit). Next, even though I have the fan button on, the 180 degree thermo. the car still gets into the 210's. Yes, before it would get 230+ within 25 minutes of driving down here in GA, but I guess I was under the wrong assumption that it would stay within the 180 range. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
I honestly think it's a coincidence. I don't see how they could be related in anyway. Did it start working again or are you still having the problem. I know some members in the past had problems with the NAV system and the unit needed to be replaced. I had problems but it was due to extreme cold, once the car warmed up, everything worked without any problem. Take it to the dealer.
Your Nav Message is most like a setting you have that's defaulted to remind you of an oil/filter change. Go into the Settings and turn off the reminder and the message will disappear off your screen. It's then possible the Disc Read Error will also not reappear since you have already cleaned it off.
How to adjust features:
*Press the ‘Nav’ button at the bottom of the Nav Screen.
*The ‘Main Menu’ will be displayed.
*Scroll down to ‘Vehicle Information’ and press ‘enter’ button on the right side of the screen.
*The ‘Maintenance Menu’ will be the first option displayed. Press ‘enter’.
*You will now see the following options: Tire, Oil, Trans. Fluid Change, Tune Up, Air Filter Change, A/C Filter Change.
*Select each one separately and then press ‘enter’.
You will now be able to set personal dates for maintenance or turn off each function at the bottom of each available maintenance option if you don’t want the reminders to appear/ding on your Nav. Screen. Remember to hit the ‘enter’ button after each personal preference you make.
I'm sorry I can't help with your 2nd question. I have faith someone will come along who can, though.
I had a disc read error once when I still had my C, but upon removal and reinsertion the message went away, never to reappear. Since you already tried that without success, sounds like a visit to the service bay is in order.
I can't imagine how this could possibly be related to the GSM install... Good luck, and let us know how things shake out!
Did you carefully check your disc, making sure that it is your original and not a substituted "copy"?
Jeez RS, I was gonna say that, but I thought it was too obvious. Good point though. I remember some guy (haha) gave me a copy in California and after a few hours I got the error. No matter how many times I reinserted it the error came up right away.
Another point, would this be the hacked in motion version by chance???
