With a 2005 you're probably out of warranty, but I had the same problem with mine a couple years ago. Doors worked fine but the trunk didn't. It was the remote---took it to the dealer and they replaced it.
As my 300c approached 3 years of age, my main key fob also stopped opening the trunk yet had no problem opening the doors. The unused key fob opened the trunk just fine. The cheap and simple fix was replacing the battery which I also did in the unused key fob as well. I don't think people realize just how much battery use the key fob takes over time. Prevention to failure (w/a fresh battery) is 'key'.
I hope one of the above suggestions work for you. I was going to test drive an 05 Chrysler and the salesman used to key to unlock the car. Gave me the key to start and drive the car. Well, the key would not start the veh. The salesman tried it and still would not work. He took the key back to his office and gave it to the shop forman. I don't know what happened because when he returned to the lot I was gone.
Dirt & corrosion will build up on the contacts under the rubber button. I haven't taken my 300 remote open so I'm not even sure if you can do this, but it's worked on other car and tv/vcr remotes.
Take the remote apart and lift the rubber buttons. They should be molded in one sheet. You'll see the contacts under that. Take a #2 pencil eraser and lightly rub the contacts. Blow off any eraser residue and you should have contacts that are factory fresh.
