greenies please read

The whole biofuels thing is rapidly looking like junk science at it's best. This is all over the web, and proves that E85 isn't the savior everyone seems to think it is!

"Research findings published in the journal Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics calculate that corn and rapeseed biodiesels produce up to 70 percent and 50 percent more greenhouse gases respectively than fossil fuels.

The study focues on nitrous oxide, which is 296 times more powerful as a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide. Scientists found that the use of biofuels released twice as much as nitrous oxide as previously realised."

You can read this article in the London Times online.

Do you have links to these web articles, I've always thought E85 was b#llsh!t, but would like facts to backup my suspicions.

Sorry, I just saw you said London Times, Thanks.

Rapeseed biofuel ‘produces more greenhouse gas than oil or petrol’ - Times Online

There is so much junk science around global warming, and the media is driving this whole mess. that they could actualy be be the cause to what they are trying to prevent.

And they seldom count the fuel and petroleum product required to grow the corn either!

exactly; I read somewhere ( I can't remember where so I don't have a link) that it takes about a gallon of petroleum (or more) to yield a usable gallon of E85...... whether that's completely true or not I don't know. But it's definitely not the 'miracle solution' to all of our energy needs as it's been touted to be!

The farmers love it but it seems completely moronic to take high quality human or livestock feed and end up burning it. I think our governments are desperate to look like they are doing something "environmental".

It doesn't help when you've got jack-ass hypocrites like Al Gore, Sean Penn, and so many other outspoken Hollywood junkies spouting off about man-made global warming and the need for alternative fuels that don't promote global warming.

Let's face it, global warming is happening. It's currently happening on all of the other planets in the universe too. To think that humans are the cause of global warming is just plain ludacris. There is absolutely no proof of humans causing global warming through greenhouse gases. There are always warming and cooling cycles going on here on earth. Each cycle usually last about 400 years or so. The last cooling cycle ended in the 1st half of the 19th century. We just happen to be in the middle of a warming cycle that will probably continue for another 200 years or so before things begin to cool off again.

It's just too bad that sooo many people buy into the junk science that idiots like Al Gore try to preach. I guess he figures that it's a good way to make a good living while flying around on his private jets burning tons of fuel and the mansion he has that uses more than 20x the amount of energy that the average American family does. He's probably most pissed off about the fact than he'll never make as much money a year as the Clintons do.

Right, except they don't call it global warming now, now the flavour of the day is "climate change". That way, if we have a cold winter or cool summer, people won't ask what happened to the global warming.

I think there just might be something to the 'climate change' theory; about 2 months ago it was almost 100 degrees here and today it's only 68 !! How ELSE could you explain such a thing?
