Interiors -- 300C vs. SRT Design vs. Heritage vs. SRT-8

Hi all,

Just back from test driving my first ever 300...it was the 300C Hemi. Really like the car size and performance, but the interior left me lukewarm. I understand that the beancounters had to find someway to keep the car as attractively priced as it is...so I get it. However, I had 2 main complaints with the seats.

1. Too flat, not enough side bolster.
2. The grade of leather used is lower than I had hoped.

Now, I'm coming from an Audi which was a much more expensive car, so I realize that what you get for 35K isn't the same. However, I don't think I can live with the 300C regular interior.

My dealer did not have any SRT Design, Heritage, or SRT-8 in stock for me to see, but I understand that the sport seats in all of these are pretty supportive, and will address my concern #1. Can anybody who knows weigh in on whether the grade of leather in any of the upgraded interiors is any different than in the 300C?

Thanks!

I'm no expert on leather, But i had a c and liked the leather alot. Now i have the SRT8 and the leather seams like the same grade but they do have more support. I'm gonna say compared to high end cars it's probably not the same quality leather.

You might want to checkout 22 elite they make after market leather seats for 300's. I do have their leather console cover, which is a must have for the 300.

I have both the Heritage and the MSRT8, and I can tell you that I prefer the Heritage seats over the SRT8s. They are both of the same design as far as padding and bolsters, but the Heritage has vented leather inserts (center sections) whereas the SRT8 has pseude inserts. I understand the reason and function of the pseude, but that doesn't make me like it more. I believe the SRTDG seats also have pseude inserts.

And actually in either case, it is leather trimmed seating I believe, i.e., it ain't all leather like the Audi probably was. However, if you want to go that moddin' route, you can get Katskins covers and I hear that they are very sweet!

Beyond that I definitely would recommend 22elite's padded leather console cover as well as the padded leather arm rests. Those are great additions to the car and not too expensive. If you want to through money around, you can also discuss with James various leather options he has for the door panels, etc.

If I were you, I'd wait until the 2008s show up so you can compare the interiors.

I own a 5.7 C and the seats are one of the best features of the car.
I have sat in a few SRT8's and hated the seats.
If/when I get an SRT8 I will be swapping the seats out for regular C seats.
My wife, with severe back problems, feels the same as I do. Regular C seats are more comfortable.

give it some time

Like you I didn't think much of the seats after my first test drive. But after about 2 weeks I foung that I got better. Might have something to do with the fact that I was driving a SUV for 8 years and I got use to the seating position. The nice thing thing is that with the memory seat position You can always adjust it a little bit and then set the memory. It look me about 2 weeks to get everything where I wanted it. I do agree about the elite22 console cover and to be getting one of those shortly. Good luck on whatever you decide. Have not regretted 1 minute getting mine.

I love the seats, but have no idea WTF you're talking about. What kinda Audi did you have?! Even the RS4 recaros suck at bolstering.

They do have nice interiors, though.

My Audi is an '05 S4 Cabriolet (still have it at the moment). I love it, but am tired of the lack of space (interior and trunk are tiny).

I found the 300C seat bottom to be flat as a pancake, felt like I was sliding all over the place. Seats are one of those things where opinions vary greatly -- to each their own.

I guess I just have to go find a couple of the other models and see for myself. Thanks everyone for your input, it does help.
