300C with Viper motor

Hi all, I recently heard from a reliable source that next year the 300C will come out with the option of the Viper motor. He wasn't sure of when though. Has anyone heard any timing of this at all?

The SRT-8 in 09 is supposed to have 525 HP, my understanding is that its supposed to be the 6.4 hemi. The information came from ResumeSpeed a very reliable member. I am sure he would've heard if they were planning on the Viper engine. Maybe something has changed...

Your post reminded me of a very old thread by tommyz - http://www.300cforums.com/forums/pic...ht=viper+motor. Don't think it's coming any time soon though...haha.

In a straight line, maybe. The M5 handles much better than the SRT-8 around curves, and would most likely trounce the SRT-8 around a track. One thing I did like about my former car (a BMW 330xi) was that it handled quite well, and had pretty decent roadfeel for a small sedan. I'm no longer a BMW fan, and would never buy one again (their service was horrible), but I did enjoy the car itself.

Of course, I can't fit 2 kids + an adult in the back seat of an M5, nor load the trunk with an incredible amount of stuff. And we'll never pay just $41k for an M5. And I don't think anybody takes a track-like road to work or the grocery store.

I actually considered the '06 M5 before looking at the Charger and 300C SRT-8. For the money, and needing to have a viable family car that could chew some turf, the SRT-8 is (and continues to be) the best option IMHO.

I would question, however, if 525 is too much for this car without a better/manual/more accurate transmission.

no v-10

nope, no v-10. It simply won't fit.

Plus it sounds like crap! Originally developed for the Ram, it's too big (long) and too heavy.

We will get the 6.4, HP will be over 500, the car can handle it well. All ESP functions will be upgraded to cope with extra HP.

I finally have my software! Happy Diablo owner.

My Favorite "old car"... 73 Super Duty 455 Trans Am - 13.08 @109 mph when brand new! Just try and find one now! And I can almost trap 113 now!

hahaha!! remember though each time a new M5 is released its bumped up a couple cylinders and about 100+hp. I wouldn't be the least bit shocked (more like expected) that the next M5 will have a v12 with over 600hp. It is pretty pointless to even tap a market that BMW and Benz set the standard for.
