am I wrong

ok I will put it out their. The 300c had a look all it's own. One comes up behind you on look at the headlights you know there is a Hemi on your tell. You come up behind one and see the three strips on each sleeve you know without a doubt you where eating the dust of a Hemi.. Now they all ware the the strips on the tail lights and the limited now not only has the 300c headlights but also the fog lights. You take a 2008 limited slap a 300c badge instant poser. Am I wrong yes a 300 is a 300 and sharing the body style says we are all part of the same family. But the 300c had its own unique look. The look that said I am a Hemi and the SRT with that additional lower vent said I am the Hemi's big brother. Now from the LX to the SRT they look alike. I vote boo to making all models look the same.

I kind of agree with you about making all the models look the same but i can almost bet that 90% of the population wouldn't be able to recognise between the different models. it's great that guys in the know like us can tell them apart but in truth, it makes sense to have the same fascia for all the models with minor differences from a business cost cutting point of view. (sorry, i'm a business analyst so i can understand decisions like this, it probably guys like me who made suggestions in the first place i'm almost ashamed to say)

on the other hand, to us "export model" guys, it really doesn't make much of a difference as all models are badged 300C whether they have a 3.5, hemi, 6.1 or a Diesel. it's almost kinda fun trying to spot the very minor differences (i.e. 1 vs 2 tailpipes, very minor badging differences, sound of the exhaust)

I agree, we "300" owners are very aware of the different models based on certain styling que's. From the base models to the SRT's we know what to look for to deterimine which 300 we are looking at. The general public really doesn't know one from another unless they are real fans of the car. We as 300 owners will continue to be able to tell the difference in models dispite the fact they are looking more the same now with the new styling. It really doesn't matter to me, I guess, that non "300 folks" cannot distinguish between models. If they assume my SRT8 is a base, it's ok. They wouldn't understand anyway. You have to love the car to appreciate he subtleties of each model and it does make it fun to be able to tell.

I'd say the average Joe does not even know there is a 300, 300 Touring, Limited, 300C, SRT8... 2.9, 3.5, 5.7, 6.1 etc etc.
If average Joe's neighbour has a 3.5 V6, he assumes every 300 he sees has a 3.5 V6.
In other words, ya, we're probably the only guys who see the difference when we look at other 300s, the average Joe sees the same car everytime.
I'm sure I've been around guys in little sportscars who must have assumed I was driving a 2.9 or something, cause I've seen plenty of their jaws drop in the rear view mirror when the hemi lays some rubber down while rolling along at 30km an hour.

I agree with the others who've posted above me that as far as the general public goes, we all look the same to them.

Here, most of us can tell the subtle differences between years and models because you hone in on simple things. For example, the easiest way for me to tell the difference between an 05 and an 06 300C SRT8 is the TPM's. 05's don't have them.

Even the 08's with the fishing pole on the roof would look the same to the general public as the previous years IMO.

WOW Rambit, that really is noticing a "subtle" difference.

Similar Comparison to SRT/SRTDG

On a thread awhile back some were critical of DCX's decision to produce the SRT design group because it cheapens/waters down their SRT-8 and the recognition it will get.
"Others will see SRTDGs on the road mistake them for SRT's and all of a sudden my SRT isn't as unique/rare/attention getting."

I disagree with the above thinking. If DCX wants to build the SRTDG that is their right, SRT owners have no cause for complaint.

Your point about a base now looking more like a C and people not being able to tell them apart may be true. But again, who are we the tell DCX how to style a product of theirs. If you want your car to stand out think about some cosmetic mods.

Personally ,if I drove a 300 C, I would like it better if someone mistook me for a base.
Perhaps at a stoplight, when I smoked some kid in a
Acura RSX or Subaru WRX .... I'd enjoy it even more.

We're all part of the same LX family and I do my best to avoid any kind of 'class' envy. What matters to you is more important than any subtle differences among the various models. You also have owners who completely switch out external body parts and badges to 'upgrade' their models and are teased about being posers.

If someone is truly concerned about making a statement over which 300 model they own, I suppose it could be driven with the hood up to answer the skeptics. j/k

The 300 is a fine car and I'm happy to see others on the road who also drive one regardless of the model.

bruno

Does anyone know the different engine sizes and models of an Intrepid or an Accura etc etc etc?
Similarly, we cannot expect non 300 owners to know anything about available models or specs of the 300s.
Unless of course they are true enthusiasts.
When I bought my C, a guy in my office's first question was... "Is it a 'C'?".
Two weeks before I bought my C, I thought they were all the same too!!!

Well, it goes a little farther than that. It's DCX's right to build it but it's still our right to bitch about it, LOL...

Not that I care.
