First Ticket in my SRT 8

OK it may have been owed to me but it happened. Got my first ticket in my SRT 8. Bought new in Feb 07. 51 in a 35. The cop was DROOOOOLING over my car. He's like "WOW this is nice" "What year is it" This is after he already wrote the ticket. Then hes like "I bet you didnt even feel how fast you were going in THAT car. He takes a step back to admire it like four times. Then he starts in on "that car was made to perform like that but our county roads are not". I told him to save the officer friendlu crap. Not like I was doin 140 in a 50. What a dip. I did deserve it though and paid my dues. Whatever happened to getting an occasional free pass?

Here is the worst part. On the ticket he writes in Charger and in big letters he writes in SRT 8

The officer was being complimentary of your ride and nice to you, and you blew him off like that?! Good grief... I think you're lucky he didn't start up something new about attitude after that.

The "free pass" of which you speak may be all the other times you do ~50 in a 35. I like getting up to the speed limit as enthusiastically as possible, but then set the cruise there and enjoy the ride.

However, recently I was written up (trying to catch the wife in our 300C) for 74 in a 65, when the officer actually clocked me at 83 (I was focused on catching up with her - really!). The officer was nice and professional and I said "Thank you" when he gave me that break. Only later as I bummed that he didn't say anything about the car! Of course is was getting pretty dark at the time...

When I got home, I told the wife I was merely taking unwanted attention away from her because she was the one going 74 at the time! LOL

In love with my first wife and first car ('68 Charger) ... still have the wife, but now there's the Heritage Edition and a Magnum SRT8!

I have only had my car for 2 months and had my first run in with the MAN on Tuesday in my SRT heading to the airport. I was running 68 in a 55 when he radared me. I was nice and admitted I was not paying attention to my speed cuase I was on a conference call and trying to get to the airport for an earlier flight. He ran all my info and found no prior tickets then came back to the car handed me my licience and said "have a nice day".

I sure hope that wasnt my free card for the year?

Let me add that he didnt say he radar'd me or ask for my insurance or registration nor was he polite. He came up to the car asked for my license didnt say a word, left to his motorcycle and came back with the ticket written up. Once it is in ink there is nothing you can do to get out of it. So yeah I didnt want to hear the officer friendly crap, nor did i want to be delayed while he oogled my car.

I have never gotten a "free card"
in the past 200,000 miles of driving I have probably gotten 6 speeding tickets. The 200,000 miles is from the past 4 years

i get free passes being in the military. i got pulled over doing 82 in a 70 on the highway. the guy let me go for being military. kinda nice. i also did it in england with my 89 5.0 mustang (stationed there). i was doing 60 in a 40 and the cops drive 4 cyl cars there. well, he could not catch me and i didnt see him. he finally caught me when i drove through a village and had to drop to 25. he pulled me over and told me to slow down and how i have a nice mustang. loads of fun

my wife got pulled over in my 300 2 weeks after we just bought it. the cop said she had no turn signal on when she turned in an intersection. she swore up and down she did. luckily the cop did nothing about it because i had temp tags on and no registration yet. my wife gets pissed. she was pulled over a few times last year and received a ticket. she always rubs it in that the military gets out of tickets easier.

That makes me feel better.....I would rather you get the free pass than I. I think they should give it to you for all that you do for the rest of us. Thank you for your service!!!

Fight it...you don't drive a charger. I think any mis-information is grounds for a dismissal.

I got a ticket in 1993 (sr. yr. in HS). going 89 in a 40...yes it was bad, but it was on a seldom traveled road...no where near homes or schools. The cop asked why i was going so fast. It was to get to a final exam on time. If a student was late he had to be accompanied to class by a principal. The cop asked "would you have made it?"...i said "yep, but now i won't." he told me to be careful, good luck on the final...he handed me the ticket and said "i did you a favor". I was like uh huh...sure... there was a lesson to be learned ( i thought that was the favor he spoke of). When i called DMV to see how much this ticket was gonna set me back. the lady asked the officers name. i said i dunno....she said it should be printed on the bottom right with his signature below it. I said nope, it's blank there. Well sir your ticket is then dismissed. I was like...WHAAAT? she proceeded to tell me that with Missinformation or lack of certain information tickets are dismissed. that was in College Station Tx....and 14-15 yrs ago. times have changed.

GOOD LUCK!

That's why it's the "occasional" pass...guess it wasn't your turn. And, the incorrect car type won't get the ticket thrown out...but since you paid it I guess it's a moot point.
