power loss with 22" wheels - 300 Touring

Is there anyone here that has the 3.5L engine that has put 22's on? I am wondering if you noticed any power loss when switching from stock to 22" wheels. If so, how bad is it? thanks

power lost

I would think you would have power lost. You figure, you are going from a 17 inch aluminum wheel to some 22 inch chrome. That is a heavier rotation and I would just assume you would lose power.

Again, thats just what I think.

i have the 2.7 (yeah yeah, i know i know) w/ 22's and the only time i really notice a drop in power is going up hills. it's a good thing i live in LA and don't go up too many hills. i didn't really notice a difference in braking either, but i feel much more planted on the road. i'd do it again if i had to.

yeah, i too have the 2.7 motor. i cannot tell any power loss by going with 22's. actually, now that i have the tires broken in, i honestly prefer the ride quality of the 22's over stock. you have 50 more horses so you shouldnt have a problem.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the 2.7 - in fact, when oil hits $105/bbl, I think you'll be seeing alot more of them:

It's cool to ride 22"s

I just put 22"s on my touring last week and the power seems the same to me. I feel the Pirelli tires I have on my car handle way better than the stock tires. Thumbs up for 22"s

I'm not to fond of adding all that extra unsprung weight. The worst aspect is that not only are you accelerating the extra mass in a strait line, but you are also dealing with centrifugal forces and inertia giving you more then just a double whammy. Spinning up that extra rotating mass on the perimeter of the wheel takes more energy to start and stop then most would think.
