Dealer Installed/Aftermarket U-Connect

I just picked up my new 300 Limited yesterday and the one feature it didn't have was U-Connect. My dealer says he can install one but I wanted to check with the experts here first.

Has anyone had this done? If so, how does it compare with the factory installed version? Does anyone know of an aftermarket version I should check out as well?

Before you point this out to me, I do have a Blue Tooth enable cell phone.

Thanks!

Go to the search function there is lots of posts on your question. I have the after-market and it is great.

The "after build" one that the dealer installs isn't as good as the "built-in" version.

The dealership here told me it takes like 2-3 hours for the "after build" unit and would require "days" to get the "built-in" one to be installed because of the wiring harness that needs to be installed through the head-liner and behind the dash.

That said, I love being hands-free and being able to see the caller ID on my dash/nav unit before I answer.

Go to another dealer, install is about 45 mins. If you have the tools and smarts you can do it yourself. I never had the factory because it was not available in Canada at the time but there is no difference in sound quality from the factory. The only thing you may not be able to do is match it up to your Nav. It mutes the same as factory, and the controller can be placed in what I see as a more convenient spot than on the mirror, but that's just my opinion.

I do not have Nav so I can't say if it will marry to that system.

I agree about the button. It's a bit annoying up by the mirror... makes people think your adjusting your mirror every time you answer your phone.
