Question ? about flashing computer

when you take your car into the dealer and they flash your computer, is there any point in the process that they disconnect the battery? just wondering because my battery is a pain to access now with the amp rack and sub enclosure in the trunk.

Hello bigwise1,

My name is Brian Carotenuto, and I had to have my 300 "flashed" in January for the IP cluster gauge inaccuracy problem. As far as I know, the technician does not need to disconnect the battery. The data port for the computer is inside the car under the dash near the steering column. If anything needs to be done with the battery, my suggestion is to inform the service department about your situation. They may be able to disconnect the battery from the front of the car near the auxillary jumping ports in the engine compartment. The other option is when you bring the car in for service, could the amp rack and sub enclosure be removed? If the battery needs to be removed you possibly will need to remove the sub and amp racks.

I hope this information helps.

Sincerely yours,

Brian T. Carotenuto
