Normal 30k Warranty or Extended 60k?

Currently test driving 2005 300C, with 18k miles, deep lava pearlcoat. Hang up on purchase from our side, is do we take the normal 30k warranty or up it to the 60k extended warranty which takes monthly payments up a bit. Didnt' know how good the overall coverage was to start with, or have you seen the "normal" problems not being covered by the warranty anyway? Also, because of the Hemi, didn't know how expenseive things got if the warranty was up when things started going south. Thanks fellas!!! Any feedback on which to take, would be greatly appreciated,

60k

I have an 2005 Limited and I would definately say take the 60K just for added security. As far as the service I couldn't be happier, the only thing i ever had a problem with was customer service of a few individuals that I quickly corrected. They thought I couldn't afford the car when I was just in their asking questions about my 300. But overall maintenace I couldn't be happier

300

I've had my car about 8 months now and I haven't had a problem at all, I didn't buy mine at a Chrysler dealership so I rushed it to a dealership just to make sure (Honda) did good maintenance on it. They did a full inspection on it.

I have a word of advice though, if you only have 18k make sure if you're the 2nd owner to quickly transfer your existing warranty over, I think you have 30 days and it's like $150.

I would recommend upgrading to the 60k warranty. Although, with past vehicles I've owned, the really expensive repairs don't come until around 100k. Since the powertrain is covered forever on the '08, we also bought an unlimited warranty for everything else. We plan to own this car until the wheels fall off, so it's nice to know that it's covered (as long as Chrysler stays in business).

If you are the third registered owner then you cannot transfer the 7/70 powertrain warranty to you. All you get is the 3/36 bumper to bumper on a 2005 and you don't have to do anything to transfer this.

But the "2nd owner" putting 232 miles on it seems a little strange. If this second owner was a dealer that the car was traded into, that doesn't count for the warranty purpose; you would in fact be considered the Second owner and can transfer the factory 7/70 powertrain warranty for a $150 fee.

The HEMI engine is the least of your worries as far as repairs and costs as this car ages. I'm MUCH more concerned about all the electronics and technology than I am the engine; it's solid as a rock. For MY money I think I'm going to chance it and not buy an extened warranty; it's hard to know for sure which is the best way to go (if only I had a crystal ball!) but I think I'd rather use the money I would spend on a warranty to pay the independent shop of MY CHOICE to fix my car, should the need arise. I would probably think differently if Chrysler dealerships provided better service.
