Question about tire balancing/wheel weights

I have a 2005 300C AWD with 3300 miles on it. The previous owner upgraded the wheels to the OEM 18" polished aluminum wheels. Currently, there are wheel weights on the outside of the rims. I wanted to have the wheels static balanced so that the weights would be on the inside. This would give a cleaner look and prevent marks from developing on the rims from the weights. The first shop I went to could only balance up to 17" rims. The second shop said they would do it for me, but the tires wouldn't be balanced as well. He said currently the tires are balanced top to bottom and left to right, but with a static balance, you only get one of the two (can't remember which).

I wanted to get options and opinions on this issue. I know that there is a powder that can be put inside the tires and the tires are rebalanced each time you drive, but I don't have any experience with that.

What do you guys think I should do?

Don't know anything about magic power inside your tires, but I'd go to a dealer. If they can balance an SRT8 wheel and use the stick on weights on the inside for them I'm sure they could do the same for your wheels.

I don't know anything about the powder, but very recently I had put my Nokian H5 tires on my stock wheels. I have watched for every wheel they have rebalanced and didn't see any powder. First they put on the tire, pump it and roll it on the computer to detect to which direction and for how much the tire should be rerolled on the wheel. (they make a mark on the tire). Then they put out some air from the tire to roll it as they marked. Then pump again and roll the hole wheel to check once again. It can be done even in two or three times only. This is made to use as less weights as possible. And only after the tire is rolled so that it can't be rolled better on the wheel (+-40 grams is pretty well as I remember) they start gluing weights on the inner and outer sides inside of the wheel. There is no problem in this procedure.
I think you should just search for the shop that is able to balance 18" wheels.
