Post asanti vs u2

everyone has heard of u2 wheels, im sure. and everyone and their grandparents have heard of asanti wheels.

asanti wheels are hot, popular, and head turning. so why not copy their design?

u2 has (model 35).. but here lies my question. the design is pretty identical... but what makes them SO much uglier than asanti's (model 131)

Asanti AF131

U2-35

the chrome on the U2s look too "chromey" in my opinion, like fake jewlery. Also, seems like the spokes buldge out a bit.

regardless, the design is similar and for $1300 with tires mounted and balanced, it seems like a good deal. but why are theyy SOOO much uglier than the 131s?

[ i do not plan on purchasing the U2s, just thought it would be an intereststing topic ]

i dont think they look that bad........its just that EVERYBODY has these damn wheels.....two people have them in my block (eight homes in my block).....and just about 80% of people with wheels have this brand...at least here they do

but to your question....i think the asanti just look clean in that pic

Personally I think your comparison is slightly unbased, because every wheel company and their mum has a 7-spoke riveted chrome rim in a similar style. They're getting to be as bad as 5-spoke 'star' style chrome rims that dropkicks buy from Bob Jane T-mart for their Holden Commodore/Ford Falcon.

I dont think they look that bad. I agree witn the early post that said that all these rims are starting to look the same. I m searching for a wheel at the moment and it seems the hub of the wheel is the only thing that seperates the copy cat syles of many of these wheels. The spinner wheels and large 22"+ wheels have probably been the most dramatic change in wheels styles we have seen in awhile. My taste wont allow me to buy spinners, so I'm stuck looking for a wheel that can be as unique as me. Gonna be awhile...

also, the chrome on the U2's are so shiny that the spokes reflect off it and doesnt allow it to look smooth

Personally the best rims out there right now come in colour/chrome combos. I've got my eyes on some black/chrome rims from Verde, very, very sexy IMO.
