remote start hood tilt problem

Just got the Mopar remote starter installed with the 2 way addon. Worked fine when the tech installed it. Now for some reason it won't start with the hood down. I pop the hood or let it rest (but not latched) and it starts fine. The hood tilt switch is positioned like the manual says but it does not seem very bent and also looks like it hits the foam pad and I am not sure if this plays a part.

Any thoughts?

One note: The 'tech' in question did this outside of the dealership down in my hometown, so I can't exactly just go back down and have him or a dealer up here look at it.

It's probably the switch. I've heard a lot about the faulty switches for the remote start not letting the car start. I'm not sure what else it could be.

Isnt the hood switch problem related to the old mercury based ones? I am 90% sure it is the new type so I don't know how this could be causing it unless there are problems with the new kind.

Is there any way to bypass/work around the new style hood tilt switches?

I had this same problem for a year. They installed, I got home, it didn't work. I took it back four times. They moved the sensor switch under the hood to no avail. The last time I told them to fix it or remove it. They changed the switch and changed the way it was mounted. In stead of being horizontal it vertical and the mounting hardware is significantly heavier so you can't bend it. The part number is AG3011-98B 011706-21C in case you can not read it in the picture. I just tried starting it remotely with the hood up and guess what. It started. Additionally it does not start if temp below -20C.

same problem here

bypass the switch, all you need to do is ground the wire coming out of the firewall

the switch is a normally closed ground (that is it makes contact) when the hood opens the ground opens and contact is lost causing the remote start to kill the motor.

either ground that wire, or get one of these pin switches:

2 CAR ALARM HOOD TRUNK DOOR PIN SWITCH VIPER PYTHON - eBay (item 280252789215 end time Aug-10-08 12:59:06 PDT)

or a mercury switch... (mercury hood tilt switch)

i'm not sure I understand what you are saying...

the tilt switch is simply a ground contact, break the ground and it kills the motor..

so if you bypass the switch by grounding it permanently to the car then it won't kill the motor if the hood is lifted.

now do you have the brake wire connected and the Tach signal wire?
