Smile new mods in the mail suprised me (LED mirror covers)

So I came home tonight and on the counter was a white box with Chinese writing on it

I opened it up, and carefully wrapped were my LED mirror covers

I had ordered them from ebay on January 4th for $69.00 + $35 to ship them. It took 6 days to arrive via HK post parcel mail (it was shipped out on the 8th according to the tracking number online).

These are the ABS plastic ones, and I ordered them from eBay member "motorparts07". Here is a link:
eBay Motors: Chrysler 300 300C SRT8 Mirror Cover ABS w/ Signal Light (item 360013522610 end time Jan-20-08 07:45:35 PST)

I ran downstairs and put it on the left side first.. and it fit... PERFECTLY.. Then I thought "sh*t, the other side better not have a 1" gap"... lol..so I put the right side on, and it fit, PERFECTLY again. i was amazed, since Ive read horror stories about how some people got them and were 1" shorter on the right side.

I am very happy that both sides fit nicely with absolutely no gap!!! I believe the reason people are having trouble fitting these are because you have body colored mirrors, or chrome mirrors, and I think these were designed to fit non-chrome and non-body color mirrors. (I have the base model- no body color, not foldable).

They came bubble wrapped, not a single scratch or crack on them. The covers are gray (apparently primed and ready to be painted) but I will sand them with really fine sand paper before getting it painted (though they feel pretty smooth). The LEDs are already off (separately bubble wrapped) so it has literally no prepping before painting.

I plan to get them painted this coming weekend, and get them installed around the end of this month with the help of MR.I

All in all, I think these are very well priced and I could not be happier with the fitment.

Here are some pics, courtesy of my crappy 0.3mgp cell phone cam:

By the way, I know the fiber glass ones have a nicer looking LED, but FB is more fragile, and people had the most fitment issues with those. I looked at several Mercedes today (C class, CLK, etc) and these LEDs that I got are actually nearly identical.

Ready to be painted, 3M double sided tape already attached.

If you are thinking about purchasing these.. DO IT.. do not wait.

I will post painted/installed pictures as soon as I get them on.

-David

I got these from the same seller a few months ago and mine fit well also though I have the chrome mirrors. Got mine painted and they look sweet! Let me know when you meet up with Mr. I as he offered to help with my mirrors as well when I met him in Oct. A mini-meet perhaps?

few more:

I put the LED in to make sure it fits. It does

here an idea of how far it wraps around the cap:

It sticks out at the very edges so people driving beside you can see it blink:

you are dead right...these wont fit any Australian delivered cars. A tip for when you install these, make sure you silicone around the indicator lens properly as they will take in moisture. I would silicone around them first to seal them, let them cure then use silicone again to adhere them to the cover after they are painted. I learnt the hard way. These covers will not fit onto an SRT8 with body coloured mirror assemblies. Carefull as the indicator assembly is VERY POOR QUALITY. I decided in the end to keep the mirrors original until such time complete mirror assemblies with indicators are available. Ebay seller Motorparts07 gets product from same supplier as HKPLUS.

My horror story here.....

MIRROR COVERS WITH LED TURN SIGNALS INDICATOR MIRRORS from hkplus ebay seller

use a clear waterbased silicone, not a solvent based one so it doesnt deteriorate or eat into the plastic. The adhesion between the back of the LED light assembly and the clear indicator lens is vert flimsy and weak. Take a very close look around the perimeter and im confident you will see small hairline openings. This is where the water gets in. If it does, it could destroy the circuit ending the ability for the led to turn on. LED lights are virtually immortal!!!. Clear SIKAFLEX would be great but im not sure where you can get it.

I did exactly that with the clear silicone. No water is getting inside these bad boys!

i purchased some Permatex sealant..."flowable silicone windshield and glass sealer"....."forms a durable, waterproof, clear seal resistant to weather, extreme temperatures, vibration, shock, and most shop chemicals"

i have no idea if this is water based or solvent based.. any help?
