Exclamation More in the EVIC easter egg

I was looking for more hidden stuff tonight in the EVI easter egg.

If you navigate to the real time MPG bar graph, I found the following:

1. Press the > button, the odometer changes to show two values, ie. 10.3 0.0

The left one is average MPG. The right one is real time MPG as displayed by the bar gauge.

2. Press the musical note button, the "MDS" symbol appears top left of screen. Each time you press the note button (in quick succession) this icon changes through the following:
Quote:
MDS

A leaf icon

ECO

V4

FS

FS (with a frame around it.)
Now, what is this setting I wonder? Or is it displaying something? The text that normally reads PERFORMANCE when the engine is stopped showed ECONOMY in each case.

Maybe:

V4 = Four cylinder mode
ECO = Economy
FS = Fuel Saver

I wonder if this sets the message displayed when MDS kicks in? Too late at night to test, will do so in the morning and report back, if someone else doesn't know already.

You nailed it. When scrolling through, it even displays a leaf. When you return the evic to a compass based display, the symbol of your choice is at the top left corner.

Yeah cool. So it's a leaf, lol. Looked like a PC mouse to me lol.

The MDS symbol also shows in the MPG bar graph (in the easter egg). This is cool.

I like the real time MPG and average in the MPG bar display. Now only if it would show L/100KM I would be happy! I am guessing Chrysler didn't bother as it's hidden functionality.

Did anyone else know about these features? I have not seen word of them before on this site.

Somone should start a Easter Egg sticky, listing all the details/functions of the easter egg. I discovered today also what all the values are in the Auto-lights page (damping, High Beam duty cycle etc). Playing with the damping tonight, could stop my auto lights comming on when I pull in my garage during the day.

I just checked mine and it says 02/01/06, v4.11. Mine is an '06 model, but first titled in early '07.

I don't have the functionality you speak of either, regarding the MPG or MDS.

Does anyone know if it's possible to have the dealer flash the EVIC to a newer version? I'd like to have some kind of OEM MDS indicator rather than trying to wire up a light myself.

From what I understand once the version of each vehicle is originally programmed thats it, no reflashing or updating for the evic, there's a couple of threads I've come acrossed in the past where this was brought up and that was the finding, I know I'd love to have all the fun features that are on the newest versions for the evic. I was at the big Utah Auto Expo and talked with one of the reps with the chrysler display (who just happened to be a sales person for a nearby dealership) and I'm almost convinced to trade in for an 08 late spring - early summer. I hope that answers your question anyways.

Completely inaccurate. You can flash any year to the newest for the year only. It isn't set in stone from the factory.

Flash memory can be written over constantly, that is why it is called flash memory.

Anybody know what the last version for 2007 models is? Mine has a build date of 4/2007 which should be near the end of that year's production run. My EVIC version is 5.34. Thanks.
