Just wanted to post a few of my findings...

I have a 2008 300C RWD and my digital speedo didnt work (always showed "0"), but I also was NEVER able to change the MDS icon - all I could do it enable or disable "MDS" appearing in the top left corner. The version of my EVIC was v6.11m 9/12/07 p/n: 05172122AF

I brought my car into one dealer with a printout of the TSB # 08-004-09, and their "System" said there were no updates availible. I then went to another dealer and they had no problem identifying all three updates of that TSB and did them. They did hit a little bump in that they updated the flashes using a desktop PC while my car was connected to their network. The problem was that after the flashes, my car was stuck in "Plant Mode" - the mode it's in while the car is being assemled at the plant. The fix was to use the portable flasher unit they had which had an extra option to bring it out of plant mode.

The new version displayed in my EVIC is now v6.12J dated 10/29/08, EVIC part number 05172122AH. The only difference I see now is that the digital speedometer now works! Everything else is the same.

Do you have a document reference to that TSB? Would be great to have a reference of it here.

Thanks.

I'm sure RS has it.

Update: Yesterday I tried using the Adaptive cruise control for the first time since the flashes. Now I have NO ACC - I only have "Normal Curiise Control". I tried pressing/holding down the "Cruise On" button for over 1 second, and still the mode doesn't change state

So, I have an appointment to go back to the dealer on Tues. Will let you know what they find.

More than likely, since you can't downgrade the software, you'll need a new cluster.

Have you tried going back into Personal Settings and make sure that your ACC is activated? The flash might have taken your settings back to defaults and might not support the push and hold feature.

I had the same thought, but I went through all the personal settings and there doesn't seem to be any "Enable Adaptive Cruise Control" option.

And thinking about it, I don't remember there ever being such a setting - in other words - why would there be such a setting? Turning it on and off is done by pressing the button on the steering wheel level - why would there ever be a need to have a setting in the personal settings for it?

I'm hoping that the fix might be something as simply as a reset (disconnect the battery). Because this "normal cruise control" option should only be availible when the ACC is "blinded" or unavailible. So, maybe the ACC unit needs a reboot to get it working and then the dash will see it and allow me to use it.

Well, it was a wild guess considering that there is a setting to turn on/off SmartBeam despite being able to turn that on/off at the steering wheel level, just gives you the ability to turn the "smart" part on/off.

Usually if I get a sensor blinded situation, I'm SOOL for cruise control until either the snow melts or I stop and clean the sensor.

Well, we were both half-right. Apparently there is a setting to enable/disable the ACC, its just that the setting can only be adjusted at the dealer.

When the tech looking into the Cruise Control settings with thier diag tool, it said it was in "Standard" mode - which apparently doesn't enable ACC if you have that option - it probably defaulted to "Standard" by default as you metioned after the flash.

So the tech changed it to the other setting (I don't know the name), and now I have both ACC and Normal cruise control modes (switch between them by press and hold the button for >1 sec).

So, anyone getting the flash for the normal cruise mode for ACC-equiped 2008 300c's should make sure the tech changes the ACC mode from "Standard" to the ACC enabled mode.
