Interview: Ralph Gilles

Hi Guys!!

CanadianDriver.com interviews Ralph Gilles.

Click on THIS to read that interview.

Of note....

"The 300 turned out to be a bit of an icon for Chrysler," Gilles said. "The question was whether to evolve the design or revolutionize it. It's always a tough choice. The important thing to remember is that you shouldn't change a car just for the sake of it. New designs don't always have to be radically different if people like what they already have."

Feel free to read into that whatever you will. But MAYBE it's good news. Who knows!!

Craig!!

The problem with RG is he gets way too much credit for the design of the 300, just like Mercedes does that was a project that's been on and off via skunkworks for almost a decade now.

Keep in mind I'm 90% sure RG was responsible for the Sebring and Aspen as well. (Thus basing my thoughts on that)

It looks to me that while sales would disagree, in design language the 300 is and will probably remain a niche vehicle. Outside of that niche, everyone only cares about how soft their dashboard is, and how much their car looks like a BMW 5 series.

Unfortunately, a large chunk of the 300's target audience appears to care more about this than the appearance of the car (they forgot what brought them to it in the first place? XD)

Ralph Gilles was posting here in 2005 under member name RG61.

Redman asked him a question about how the Nassau influenced the design of the 300. The Nassau was designed before the 300 in year 2000. I don't know if Ralph Gilles was involved with the design of the Nassau. Ralph never responded to Redman and never posted to this website again. I always wonder if that question had something to do with RG61 leaving.

If that's why he ditched the forum too bad, because even if the Nassau wasn't his idea, he certainly made it look a lot better, lol.

I wish they had carried that B pillar over though (it's flush!)

I don't think that's why he stopped posting here. I think it was because it was against the then DCX policy.

Someone should ask him why at SF.

Good idea, Rambit! I would like for you to be the spokesman for that question. Therefore, you need to register HERE!
