1.) you would want a single hinge not a dual hinge setup

2.) be fully aware that this will cost 6-7k to do correctly not including paint most likely

3.) your car will be in the shop for a LONG while

4.) I dont know of any shops in new england/ ny and south that I would consider capable of doing this work.

5.) if you screw it up its hard to come back from.

This is not a one day job or a DIY kit you should attempt yourself. There was a member here who had to have it done twice and his car was out of commission over two years and it was a real horror story. The biggest problem is sagging of the doors.

Like GROUNDED said, you're looking at big bucks to have this done and the risk is not worth it IMO. Any shop that's telling you they can do it in one day is a shop to stay away from.

I think the doors are great but not worth the risk unless a pure show car.

Can anyone tell me what the name of the rims on this car pictureed here? I love them but can't find them.

Manufacture? Distributor? Model of the rims? Cost?

Have my new grill in, Magnaflow dual exhaust coming this week and K&N CAI next week. I need wheels though...toughest decision...Pictures to come once the wheels are on.

Thanks,
Rob

I would have pissed myself laughing if a shop ever told me that. ahahahaha

Seriously to suicide doors is about 60 hours or more.

you need to cut and weld in the hinges

plate the hinge pockets

align the hinges

reinforce the panels around the hinges

weld the cups to the doors

plate the inner door skin

get the striker on the right side of the door

mount bear claw latch and weld in place

assemble door pulls as well as poppers

make the door swing straight and not sag

align and gap the door

metal finish EVERYTHING

trim the door panel if necessary

reassemble the interior (which should have been removed prior to this work to avoid burns from the welding)

Then you need to either shave or relocate the door handles

thats all before you can even think about paint

Take it from someone who has been designing and engineering car parts (suicide hinges as well as suspension components) this is definitely a heavily involved process.

Thumbs down

On another note...

I would NEVER go back to this shop again. Seriously.

Any shop that can throw out dates on work they have NEVER done correctly is just problems waiting to happen.

They are basically lying to you about their abilities inorder to get your money as a customer. Don't be fooled and don't buy into the BS that they have this and this for so and so. I usually end up repairing the work these shops do.
