I just bought a FJR1300 - obviously to save gas (40 MPG) and the environment. More fun than a Prius

Now there's no need to drive the hemi around just to drop off a letter or go for simple errands... And yes, i suddenly found a lot more important errands that needs to be taken care of

Yeah, I agree, with whoever said that even if you can afford to pay $20 a gallon doesn't mean you have to like it....
And for those who want to here ya go

Fortunately I work close to home and have a nice income, so the price I pay at the pump isn't really a big issue, at least not yet. The problem is that gas prices impact lots of other things like the cost of our food (due to higher shipping costs). Gas prices are a big issue for people that have lower incomes that travel farther to work (maybe because the real estate near their work is too expensive).

I don't like the idea of spending more of my hard earned money on gas though, and the situation isn't going to get better anytime soon. I wouldn't be too surprised if gas hits $10 a gallon within the next several years.

I don't think that will happen; but the only reason I think you're wrong about $10 gasoline is that our economy - - actually our entire financial and monetary system (or more accurately, house of cards) will collapse well before gas gets that high. It's on the verge of collapse right now. Once everyone is broke there will be less demand for gasoline and the price will come down.

Of course you could be right and the $10 gasoline could come first; but that will just accelerate the depression that's coming anyway.

it should not reach $10 given what other countries are paying. If things
equal out, it may go no more than $6 or $7. But you are quite correct,
our system could not handle gas in that range because no one could
afford anything else affected by the price of gas.

I had to laugh and think of this thread when I was talking to a friend of mine in Toronto. He has a Saturn Vue and after 3 years of ownership he brought it in for the 20,000 kms service. Yet when I mentioned something about gas he started his rant about it all and that he was going to give the car up at the end the lease. Its even better when I know that he is still using the promo discount card he got when the vehicle was new. I think it was 2000 liters at 20 cents off a liter or something.

A full tank would last me just over two weeks so Im not worried about the price yet and would get the V8 instead of my V6 if I could.

If everyone's broke you'll be broke too! Who wants to be broke? Just be careful. Heheh.

The problem is that gas prices impact lots of other things like the cost of our food (due to higher shipping costs).

There is a Railroad commercial on TV that boosts 450 miles on 1 gallon of gas, its just another excuse for everyone in every industry to raise prices and our GOVERNMENT allows them to get away with it. The very freedoms that made this country great are going to put us all in the poor house. By the way I served in the military for 20 years, I am Red, White and Blue as anyone who loves this country, but something must be done and not just with the gas prices.
