Government Responsible for High Gas Prices
i have hard this before...the only problem i see here is, a couple weeks ago the american oil executive was at a hearing and said the can supply all there current demands now amd they have been running at 80% capacity for the last 4years and the demand on there refinery's have slightly dropped. they also said america dont need any new refinery's because they can just expand the refining capacity by build onto there current refinery's. this what they are saying now speculator's. it also came out in the hearing that the american oil companies sell more oil out of the country then they sell in the country...so opening ANWAR will just make more sources they can sell out ...go figure...its all a lie...or maybe i am just a conspiracy theories.

conspiracy:
  1. An agreement to perform together an illegal, wrongful, or subversive act.
  2. A group of conspirators.
  3. Law. An agreement between two or more persons to commit a crime or accomplish a legal purpose through illegal action.
  4. A joining or acting together, as if by sinister design: a conspiracy of wind and tide that devastated coastal areas.
conspiracy theory:

A theory seeking to explain a disputed case or matter as a plot by a secret group or alliance rather than an individual or isolated act.

conspiracy theory: Definition and Much More from Answers.com

i think oil companies fall into this umbrella. looking for the legal loop holes is considered conspiring.

I dot like the higher prices, so everytime I fill up and think wow thats a lot I think back to the UK, (I'm British) and there paying over $10 per gallon!!!! and it makes feel good again!
Exactly, over here we are paying over $10 per gallon - and rising ! And we pay something like twice as much as you Americans to buy the car in the first place !!
You don't know how lucky you are... even with George Bush !!!

You completely missed the main point. If you read my earlier post, and if you read all of Congressman Paul's article in the link I posted, he tells you the real problem. He only cites refinery capacity and not allowing offshore drilling, etc. as contributors to the problem.

The main cause of our high oil prices is the plummeting value of the U.S. Dollar. This is happening because it is a 'fiat' currency, and has not been backed by anything other than the 'full faith and credit of the U.S. government' since 1971. Well the 'full faith and credit' of the U.S. government is a bit shaky in the eyes of the world right now. Once upon a time a dollar bill was not considered actual money, it was merely a receipt for the silver which was the actual money. You could redeem a dollar bill in silver (I think it was .75 oz...not sure the exact amount). But now, with no backing by anything tangible (Gold or Silver) the Federal Reserve has no restrictions on how many dollars they can print. Thus each dollar is worth less and it takes more of them to buy a barrel of oil or anything else.

gas prices are out of control. i am trading in my 300 for an SUV so i can use up as much gas as possible and drain the oil reserves in the US. that could be the next terrorist attack. just buy a ton of trucks and suv's and drain out all the imported oil into them with the chrysler 2.99 gas card.

"I'm sorry, but I can't stand to read these forum posts about people b!tching about the gas prices. Honestly, if gas price hikes are affecting your budget......then you bought a car that was too much of a car for your pocketbook. "

I'm sorry, but someone had to say this. I wouldnt go out an buy a hemi if all I could afford was a sebring....that's just common sense. People need to know their limits and come back to reality.

I don't know if anyone elst has said this, but your an idiot!

You are telling people to stop whining?!?!?!

Why don't you tell us to stop whining about high food prices, or stop whining about the real estate market.

I can't think of anything else to say but you are an ignoramus. I wouldn't be surprised if someone whined all over your A$$ for being such an insensitive moron.

You obviously don't know a thing about politics or war or life in general to submit such a statement!

People are dying, starving, and in pain because of oil prices.

I apologize if I offended anyone other than whoever started this thread!

Well in the US you can thank our legislators, they won't let us build nuclear plants, are using oil and gas fired electrical generating plants, won't let us drill, discouraging coal, and have different E gasolines for each city and season. The US is the largest oil producing nation in the world so if we were independent/self sufficient the Arabs and world demand couldn't control the prices so much.....that's what makes me mad!!!!!!
