i think oil companies fall into this umbrella. looking for the legal loop holes is considered conspiring.

I dot like the higher prices, so everytime I fill up and think wow thats a lot I think back to the UK, (I'm British) and there paying over $10 per gallon!!!! and it makes feel good again!

Exactly, over here we are paying over $10 per gallon - and rising ! And we pay something like twice as much as you Americans to buy the car in the first place !!

You completely missed the main point. If you read my earlier post, and if you read all of Congressman Paul's article in the link I posted, he tells you the real problem. He only cites refinery capacity and not allowing offshore drilling, etc. as contributors to the problem.

The main cause of our high oil prices is the plummeting value of the U.S. Dollar. This is happening because it is a 'fiat' currency, and has not been backed by anything other than the 'full faith and credit of the U.S. government' since 1971. Well the 'full faith and credit' of the U.S. government is a bit shaky in the eyes of the world right now. Once upon a time a dollar bill was not considered actual money, it was merely a receipt for the silver which was the actual money. You could redeem a dollar bill in silver (I think it was .75 oz...not sure the exact amount). But now, with no backing by anything tangible (Gold or Silver) the Federal Reserve has no restrictions on how many dollars they can print. Thus each dollar is worth less and it takes more of them to buy a barrel of oil or anything else.

gas prices are out of control. i am trading in my 300 for an SUV so i can use up as much gas as possible and drain the oil reserves in the US. that could be the next terrorist attack. just buy a ton of trucks and suv's and drain out all the imported oil into them with the chrysler 2.99 gas card.

Well in the US you can thank our legislators, they won't let us build nuclear plants, are using oil and gas fired electrical generating plants, won't let us drill, discouraging coal, and have different E gasolines for each city and season. The US is the largest oil producing nation in the world so if we were independent/self sufficient the Arabs and world demand couldn't control the prices so much.....that's what makes me mad!!!!!!
